Children: A High Pursuit

Highlighting the value of children......hopefully this will be a blessing and encouragement to you today, dear Parent (or Grandparent). The Bible is full of expressions of God's care and concern for the young and vulnerable. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."

Unfortunately, this perspective is becoming increasingly foreign to our modern world, where children are often seen as a burden and a drain. What could possibly be more rewarding than raising an impressionable young child in the love of the Lord? Is there anything more important than being able to answer questions such as "Why is the sky blue?" or "Who is God?" for the little ones entrusted in our care. It brings us comfort and joy as parents or grandparents to enjoy limitness opportunities with them! It produces loving relationships and a grateful heart for seeing them learn that fulfillment is found - in selfless service and a grateful heart! Yes, they are a high pursuit! Never take them for granted.

Christmas Trees

In the daily walks, etc..namely Mall Walking....looking at the various Christmas Trees in Stores is breathtaking! Especially this year - they are amazingly incredible the way they are decorated. And even in the banks there are trees decorated. We have a lighted tree in our Fellowship Hall at Church which is beautiful. How about you? Do you get a "real" tree or do you have one that is tucked away in a box and you get out? I have a tucked away well lit tree. At first I debated putting our kids' ornaments they made in grade school (oh my gosh!) but opted for putting grandkids' ornament (Note: singular) - they gave us an ornament they made in school a couple of years ago and there they are - front and center on the tree!!! That's the fun of Christmas. Celebrating Jesus birth and honoring Him, and seeing the family decorations, eating the food, just plain ole' blessings!!!!

We have a tremendous family that loves Christmas and trust me - there are no humbugs in our family to ruin Christmas. Guess they know it's the greatest time of the year where we are together and so grateful!!!!!!! Hope you enjoy looking at trees - Christmas trees THIS DAY!!!

Phenomenal Services!!!

Yesterday I missed my time to blog...I was p-r-e-t-t-y busy with Church activities from sun up to sun down. Phenomenal service with beautiful singing, happy people and just all the way around wonderful! Then afterwards we had a dinner (KFC chicken dinner....: ) and my husband and I were presented a gift as well as each person there. Everything was beyond anything we could ever do. The truth was God was there and that made it all the most phenomenal! We had a special prayer for people who have called the 24/hr. prayer line. I pray your week will be sufficient, phenomenal, and exactly what you need to get all the things accomplished that you need to make your Christmas the best ever! Happy Monday to all!!

Added note: I'm finding out more and more people will respond to Facebook but not to blog....that's okay...I hear by e-mail my subscribers!!! Thanks everyone!

Pesevere in Prayer. God Will Answer You.

That answer may come as you read God's Word. . . as you hear a sermon in Church, or at a conference....or it may come from the still, small voice of God speaking in your heart. The answer may come into your mind and heart in a flash, or it may come to you slowly over time. But the answer will come.

God hears and answers. Psalms 23 is a great prayer!

You Won't Believe This!

Yesterday my hubby and I planed THE day TO FINISH Christmas shopping. (For each other also). So he was headed out to a completely different Mall than I was going to. Is it God's will or not? He changed his mind and went to another Mall and guess what? We smack dab ran into each other - now come on - that would never happen again in a million years! I'm astounished because he is a person that never does that - So, guess what we ended up doing. Yup, you're correct! Shopping at the same Mall!!! Naturally he saw what I got him and I saw what he got me...a-ha...so we are trying to erase it out of our minds and by Christmas will be surprised! Age and activities will cause that to happen. : )

I hope you are chuckling because this is one you tell your grandkids way years later! Hopefully your Thursday will at least be one of laughter when you read this blog.....encouragement done!!!!!

Wednesday - Stay Warm!

Okay - it's icey cold here. No ice as yet...but they are forewarning us. That's the part of winter I dread. I'll stay warm today because it sure came quickly....the cold weather that is!

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a Ladies Meeting, having been invited, and thoroughly enjoyed what the Pastor's Wife had to say. It made me think how we need to laugh more. She told some stories about Christmas trees and actually we all identified with it; it made us chuckle out loud! I hope your Christmas is filled with laughter, joy, and happiness. Try not to let the media and newspapers get you down with the doom and gloom about the economy. Thinking of the joy of giving makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Go hear a children's choir sing or something to enhance your spirit!!!! Kids are sooooo cute. Bless their hearts and bless all hearts this very day!!!!

Tuesday Declared Get Christmas Cards Addressed!

I don't dread this task....in fact I love it. Sending joy, greetings, and love through those Christmas cards.....yup.....super fun, and when it's finished a shout will hooray I'm finished will be heard! Last year was our year to hear from kazillion people we know around the world, missionaries, etc. So.....I shall have fun. I have great encouragement: the Christmas "to be done" list is getting shorter. I'm sure your's is also. Let's rejoice together!!!!

Christmas????

How are you doing with Christmas? I have tree up, decorated and presents under it! Woohoo!!! Pat myself on the back! I do have the Christmas spirit; This year we are taking our time to make it enjoyable instead of rush, rush, rush! We still do not have our outside decor done.

Here's an encouraging thought: Persevere in prayer. God will answer you. That answer may come as you read God's Word...as you hear a sermon in church or on television...or it may come from the still, small voice of God speaking in your heart. The answer may come into your mind and heart in a flash, or it may come to you slowly over time. But the answer will come. God hears and God answers. When you call upon Him, Repeating, He will answer you. I've seen it happen!

A Dog's Life

Pixie is the name of one of our Dogs. Chloe is the other. We loved Chloe who was an abused dog through an eye twitch 12 years ago. Pixie is inherited from our daughter-in-law that was given to our daughter passed on to me. Pixie is a bichon frise in all her glory. She has a mind of her own, but the main thing is she loves me and connects. If you read upon bichons, they are a circus dog that loves to jump as high on the back door (but usually through hoops in a circus act) and they are very smart dogs. I have 3 videos about her background as a bichon frise and three books that I have read cover to cover. She truly loves to lay by me wherever I am; when I'm at the computer now, she is right beside me watching me so she can obey. While we were away for Thanksgiving, our daughter-in-law "dog-sat" for us. Talk about out of control. They have a Golden Retreiver who loves to chomp on sticks, etc. outside. Pixie loves the same thing only she aggravates the other dog to the extent, it will wear the other dog out. The moral of that story is their dog wore Pixie out. Soooooo all week she has been laying by me as if to say can you explain why I wore myself out. Talk about being appreciative to our daughter-in-law for watching her (I owe her my life's earning because Pixie picked up some bad whining habits as I take her over to the church and she wants my attendtion) and I know she was out of control, but I have done what our Son suggested and to open her cage door and let her come in and out......Voila.......it works - it calmed her down. Now, our daughter will be coming with her precious dog, a small chihuahua for Christmas and Pixie will continue to just really bug her to the point where we have to separate the two.

A dog's life....what are they thinking? Okay, I'm going to get comments about this via e-mail....I think they are human, like us...we think of ways we can manuever ourselves out situations, and they do as well. This is one subject my husband and I mill over (he doesn't think so) but I'll just go on through my wonderful life believing this dog thinks I hung the moon and I'm sure you will feel the same about your dog or dogs or cats or horses or whatever you have......so enjoy them through the holiday and remember to let them give you a super attitude because they are so very cute....God love the cutie pies......and give them lots of love. I'm chuckling now because she conveniently turned over on her back for me to rub her tummy...talk about a manipulator....a-ha....and do I crater and do it. You bet!!! She is precious and keeps me great company during these wee-morning hours. How cute!! I wish you could see her! Enjoy your Friday!!!!

Smiles

If you have only one smile in you, give it to the people you love. Don't be surly at home, then go out in the street and start grinning "Good morning' at total strangers."

Do not let anyone take your JOY. ....or better yet, your smile. = )

Shorter Time

My hubby tells me it is a shorter time from Thanksgiving to Christmas this time. So yeppers...out comes the Christmas tree. We have a big 'un so I'm going to have to get with the program! The good news is my husband is helping me this year. Such a doll, hu??? Yea! I hope your Tuesday is happy. I really mean that. I have tons of things to catch up on, so will leave a brief blogb ut I do have a word of encouragement.

Respond to Opportunities. Proverbs 12:11 says "Hard work means prosperity; only fools idle away their time."

YEA DECEMBER IS HERE!

It seems like it was only yesterday that December 2007 was here...now it's 2008!
Encouraging words: Stay organized during this month or it will get away from you.
Yesterday I did some Christmas shopping...that's weird with me because I usually get the tree up first. I couldn't beat the sale 40% off...so I did some great fun picking out something I'm pretty sure my family can use.

Thanksgiving was totally awesome and again I felt like a queen as our daughter just gave us all hospitality, fun, and I had full reign in the kitchen. On Thanksgiving Day we were all in the kitcen, including hubby. Now that was fun. I glanced over at our daughter as she was stirring the green bean casserole...oh my very favorite!!!!.....and she had her hand on her hip just exactly like my Momma had when she cooked for all us kazillion kids!!!! Tears began to well up because, of course, I miss my Momma who went home to glory in 1970. Another just like it was yesterday. In fact, our daughter is named after her so lots of memories arose!

At church yesterday some ladies told me they missed my blogging. I missed it; I'm convinced it's healthy for me. After a much needed vacationI'm beginning the month of December and try to remember frequently in order to cultivate a heart that honors God and willingly serves others, I must:
Remember God's in charge, not me.
When I serve my congregation, I am serving God.
I deserve nothing from God, but He blesses me anyway.
I don't serve to be liked. My security comes in knowing I was worth redeeming by the love of the Lord.
Nothing I can do will make God love me more.
Nothing I can do will make God love me less.
If I cultivate a servant heart, I'll be blessed more than anyone I serve.
The rewards are all around me if I learn to look and listen.

I Love A Parade

Okay I've been to famous parades - Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day several years ago. Adolphus Christmas Parade which our kids were in; and a parade our granddaughter was in, and the Veteran's Parade and now I'm headed toward a famous parade - Macy's T. Parade. Whoopeee!!! And I tear up when I see the bands coming. Maybe it brings back the exciting days of childhood to me; I just feel like a proud American, especially the one our kids marched in!!!! And I've always been on the sidelines right front and center! That's the great part!

How about you? Have you been in a parade or do you even go?

Happy Saturday everyone!!!!!

Football

There's something not many people know about me and I'm going to reveal it now.

On Saturdays I AM ADDICTED to watching Football games by what I call Ivy League Colleges. Since I'm from Oklahoma, I watch OU Football and love to watch (when they show them) SMU, TCU, Rice, and Baylor. Texas Tech someetimes.....I know I get razzed about not watching the Longhorns, but they have beaten OK too many times, so IF I HAVE TIME, I might click on that one. I also do Outreach at Church on Saturdays, so one or more games are included. Sometimes I think Referees are partial...that's my own opinion so please don't throw rotten eggs at me.

How about you? Do you watch NFL or College games? Or any at all.

I love the excitement of the players, coaches, band, and cheerleaders & fans all inclusive!!!! It's Friday! Have fun today - End the week with tons of joy!!

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Okay - How To Be Your Own Cheerleader

1 - Get excited
2 - Believe you can cheer for yourself
3 - Use tons of enthusiasm
4 - Practice!
5 - Definitely keep extremely positive thoughts and Self Talk
6 - Shouldn't be this far on the numbers - Trust God to give you total help!
7 - Refuse to be around negativity or drainy personalities!
8 - Stay on Goal
9 - Visualize yourself WINNING!!!!

It works! (To get started - get some loyal support from a very close family
member who is on your team!!!!) Like our Son helped me yesterday
and now I'm cheering myself on to do it!!!!! Ride in a smaller
jet for travel!!!
I covet your prayers.....beginning now! Thank You One and All!

Believe!

Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't - you're right either way!

Belief in ourselves is like a muscle - it is strengthened by constant and careful use!

Our fears are more numerous than our dangers and we suffer more in our imagination than reality.

Learn your lessons and move on!

Those are my encouraging thoughts today. Remember to read Philippians chapter 1...awesome, asesome, soooo good to believe!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Congratulations!

.......to my hubby and I.......41 years of matrimony!!!! It seems like it was yesterday. It's amazing how time flies!!!!!!!!!!!! Up up and away! And away we go..........sing the Anniversary Song.....I love it!!!!!

Keeping Up With New Technology

I love to keep up with the new items coming out...I don't freak out if I don't get a new cell phone or computer add-on, but what I hear from one of our kids is that there is what's called a "web cam" (hope that's the spelling of it) and I could actually talk to our daughter via camera, see her and talk at the same time. Come on...you can't beat that with a stick!!!! Okay Santa...I'm putting my request in NOW....so I'm diggin' that new technology and not only will I put it on my Santa list but on my prayer list!!! A-ha...gotcha -- telling God about it is sure to be an answer!!! I hope your Monday is very eventful. I know mine is going to be!!!

Come join us. A pretty casual atmosphere awaits you.

America Rocks! Random thoughts...

Lately I've been hearing on some News Channels that America is not a great country to be in. I beg to differ with comments that go out negative about America. I am proud to be an American and to help mankind out in any way I possibly can. Try being grateful for the freedom we have! There's always someone to help explain the why of something. The freedom we have to go to Church on Sunday and hear a message that is relevant and good for us out of the Bible. Did you know the Bible has the answers to ANYTHING!!! Just look it up. Lately I've really been going to the Bible and finding comfort in the scriptures - especially when someone puts America, the country I love, down. We need to pray for our new President and ask God to lead Him in all ways. Decisions that have to be made will be definitely necessary as (as his wife calls him) Barak makes will need the support of the American people.

Yes, America rocks! Be proud, read what the Bible says about the freedom we have in Christ, the creator of mankind, and bow your head to be grateful for even the smallest thing you own or have been blessed with. I know I am!!! C ya in Church tomorrow at 10 a.m. Worship the true and living God! Those are my thoughts. I am so very blessed and super grateful!

Country Music Awards

Okay - I confess I fell asleep and didn't get to see who won the female vocalist award. Livin' in the country as a kid, I listened to whatever radio station my older brothers and sisters had the station on......The country ones won at times, so Ernest Tubb and Dottie Rambo who has gone home to be with the Lord were singers. I'll surf the internet and find out.

Since my passion is singing, and my husband and I sing to country background music at times, I love the down home of country music. Do you? Let me know. I'm happy for whomever gets the award 'cause it's hours and hours of practice...trust me!!!

Keep On Being Grateful

God is so great! He supplies our every need and more! I'm already praying your Thanksgiving will be a grateful one. Start being thankful now and by the time Thanksgiving Day gets here, you will feel a great feeling of gratefulness. Give thanks is how it begins! I am so thankful for His bountiful blessings! Proverbs 2:2 - maintaining gratefulness causes us to walk in righteousness, in love and in obedience to the God who supplies.

Soul Searching

My question - if you are confronted with the truth, would you even tell it?

I actually had a situation where I was being used, so I confronted the truth with this lady. And in all description, she was a lady. She didn't come clean about the truth when I confronted her, but she did the next day! Yea God on that one! Which tells me, it's easier to tell a lie, thinking it might get you in good graces with that person, but in the long run, it gets you nowhere but anger and then as you think about it..........the truth would be chosen as a better solution!

The next day she came out with the truth and oh how heavenly the air was. Hip, hip, hooray!

So hope happens...just tell the truth in the first place....admit you blundered and you are a bigger and better person!

I'm sure glad that worked out...I'm sure I received one or two gray hairs over it!

You're definitely put back on the road to emotional wholeness! Go for it.

Hey Ladies.....Tomorrow is W.O.W. (Women of Worth) 9 a.m. (ugh) but great coffee and refreshments and discussion regarding TRUST.........ooooohhhhh really good!!!
See you there - bring a friend. You'll be glad you did!!!!

Just Be Honest!

My thoughts....just tell the truth! Lately I have run into people that would rather lie than the truth......oh pla---eeeeze!!! For the love of might....please tell the truth...lies begat lies. Come on...get with the program...I'm helping some women that think it's right to lie.........WRONG!!!!! Just be honest...in a relationship, you owe the truth. When the other person lies, I can feel comfortable in my own skin because I have to live with my conscience and I will confront the truth. Sooooo, if you are reading this, please know lies get you nowhere.......admit you have wronged someone and make it right.

God will give you grace and mercy to tell the truth. If you have begun a pattern of lying, then come clean. I would much rather have a happy, honest, loving life of enjoyment as I pillow my head at night and thank the Lord that I had a day of serving Him in truth and wisdom to obey His will.

Your thoughts???? You're always free to comment and if you don't care to, drop me an e-mail or call me. Whatever you do, please catch yourself when you tell a lie; correct it; face telling the truth. It sets you free!!!!! Well, why? Because MAD looks bad on you! Let's love one another and make the world a better place to live! ADD VALUE TO OTHERS!

Thanksgiving Is Almost Here!

I love Thanksgiving.
No, I adore Thanksgiving!
A time to really be grateful is my first love.
Every year we have been treated like a king & queen at our Son's home.....
This year we are going to our Daughter's. Even though she's a veggie lover,
she is going to fix us a turkey and trimmings!!! I am soooooo very grateful.
Get in the spirit. It's there....tell your family you are grateful! That will
make your day!!!

Recognition And Encouragers

It's a choice! Either you want to encourage or you won't. Please keep me away from
someone who does not want to encourage. It brings me down. I finally saw that people who aren't happy for great things that happen to me aren't looking out for my best interest and I had better make a choice to ignore them because I know how stressed I get over it.

We all have tremendous power to affect the lives of people around us.........Encouragement from us could be the difference-maker in someone's day, week, or even life, sending that person in a whole new direction! I've been sent in a new direction this week and some day I pray I can blog about it...it's incredibly amazing!!! Just from one person in our family encouraging me...I really feel like a somebody!!!! And do I ever feel loved!

How can you help other people to feel like they are somebody? By seeing them as a ten. I believe that you get out of people exactly what you expect from them. If you treat people like tens, they respond like tens! People want encouragement and recognition and affirmation. It is a deep human desire, and we an help people become great simply by showing them how we believe in them!

Powerful Business Insights

An uncooperative attitude carries with it its own penalties.

I read in a book recently, "If fate throws a knife at you, there are two ways of catching it - by the blade or by the handle," YOU can control how you react to the stress and in some cases take active steps to cut down the amount of stress you have to endure.

My thoughts are lately I've been around to see some bad attitudes and I'm not judging or condeming, but the down, bitter attitude will get you nowhere. My encouragement would be to suck it up and turn on a positive attitude; an attitude of gratefulness and trust me, the world will look better to you.

Don't march yourself out in the wilderness or feel abandoned, rely on Ps. 30:5 "Weeping may endure for the night....but joy comes in the morning." Put on a cheerful attitude and see how your day will be different! But, remember to vote!

Monday, November 3, 2008

VOTE!!!

Don't even hestitate! I actually saw four people over the weekend who weren't going to vote. Hello....................Not acceptable!!!! bottom line: Please VOTE! I did EARLY VOTING and loved it!

P. S. I am blessed beyond comprehension today!!!!!!! Whoopeee!!!

Sunday, November 2, 2008

Yea - it's Sunday!!!

My husband is in a new series, "JOY" book of Philippians...............love, love, love it. I truly am a joyful person and I can't wait...it grieves my heart when people don't have joy. I take it as a global suffering if they don't know how to at least smile and be happy. Believe it or not, there are hundreds of people who have no joy. Come to Lighthouse Church, 10 a.m. and you will hear the answer to
having JOY.................see you there!!!!!

Happy Halloween!

The shadows are getting longer, the daylight hours are disappearing.....so kids be careful treat or treating. And watch for cars very carefully when you cross the streets. Treat or treating is fun and always wondering what a kid is masked up and looks like..............the kid in me still comes out...........I love it!!!!!! But, then my Halloweens turned to pure joy and tremendous contentment when on one Halloween our precious, precious son (first child) was born on Halloween, 11:24 a.m.; so birthdays for him supercede Halloween any year whatsoever!!!!! My husband and I have already had our coffee today and reminenced over the very Halloween Day when the labor pains started and he was born and the tremendous feelings because we had prayed for a boy first and that's what we got just exactly what we wanted!! He amazes us in the wisdom, insight and talent he has! Yes, we are proud parents! We hope everyone has a marvelous day of fun and excitement!!!!

Stay Focused

Stay focused is the name of the game. Or is it....get focused. Some people don't get it. This is the answer to life's tough questions! For instance, how do we develop good habits? It keeps us busy to be focused on the good habits or we might otherwise slip into the bad habits and some people need to be accountable for slipping back to bad habits. Psalm 28:7 is what I rely on to stay focused. As a young kid David developed the habit of talking to God, singing songs about Him, and writing psalms. This helped him to trust in and follow God to stay focused. Also, read Romans 8:5 - those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that plese the Spirit...those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things. I'll stay focused on the WORD. I may not be perfect at it, but it sure is comforting and reassuring.

Apple Computers - random thoughts

I know this is the Lord's Day, but I awakened this morning thinking about Apple Computers. To me, they can do about any thing.....I have never seen a computer that is so efficient and up to par that society loves and has! My husband says when he truly retires he doubts if he will ever turn another computer on. Of course he uses the computer so much to present his power power point information on Sunday that he teaches, and then the music is put on the laptop for Sunday worship songs. But sometimes, he has to go over and over the songs to have the timing right. That is frustrating...something slips in the computer and it begins all over...I've seen it happen, but he has the patience to fix it. I wouldn't! But, I'm sure with the Apple computer that would never happen. I've heard from the young jetset, very knowledgable brilliant computer people that the Apple has all the answers.

Oh well, do I want one....not on your life....I'm a simple simon type person and I type over 90 words a minute, so as long as it has a keyboard and my fingers can fly to type what I have to say, that's all I need. Our daughter and son have all Apple computers, laptops, etc. And I can adjust when I go to their homes, but to want one....nay....I'll just keep my hand-me-downs computers and do the research I need to find things on Google and keep on plunkin' with no ungratefulness at all.

Today in W.O.W. (Women of Worth) we are discussing Pop Culture...9 a.m. See you there....can't wait to hear the comments on this one. It's a relevant subject...come on wake up, and have your coffee or bring your coffee with you and we will have fun!

Brrrrrrr

Cold weather...........hmmmmmm bring out the sweat pants and sock-a-roos!!!!! Brrrr.
I think my skin has gotten thinner....I'm cold when the weather changes....but I'll get used to it. Start thinking about the positive aspect of it. #1 - electric bill is cheaper because the air doesn't run. #2 - snuggling.....ooops that's pretty personal! #3 the dogs seem to love cold weather better. They run and chase each other........that's fun to watch. One drives the other nuts while she doesn't want to be chased so fast!!!!

Hey ladies: Here's a blessing: "My spirit and my words that I give you will never leave you or your children or your grandchildren, now and forever." Isaiah 59:21 NCV

R&R

I took a little r&r from blogging. I had bunches of "thank you" cards to make. This is my favorite time of the year.......thankfulness.....gratefulness...I hope
that word isn't foreign to you, but I believe that is what is wrong with America....not enough gratitude and thank you's! That's my take on today's blog.
People have gotten rude and ruder......but I will still be old fashioned, Christ-like, loving and be grateful!!!! How many thank you notes have you sent lately???? Oooops, that's too much guilt. Just say "thank you" - practice it! It works! Makes for a very happy Wednesday!

Found Out

it is so hard to be "found out." But that is where God moves in. He wants to get to the absolute truth in you so that He can give you His absolute truth. Many of us go on for years in denial of the true state of our hearts. We don't grow there. We can actually live somewhat of a slumber. Life passes us by, and we don't experience the fullness of the riches of His love.....and we are paralyzed to give it out in return.

Tomorrow we have a great chance to show my husband, the Pastor our love. It is Pastor Appreciation Day! You'd be surprised at the excuses I have heard for not coming and this man, my husband, has done far more for mankind than you could ever imagine. I tell you this. If someone like my husband has helped the way he has without any griping or just sacrificing so much of his time, why not make a way, no excuses given, to come out and celebrate honoring him? That's what this blog is about......let God move in and motivate you to come out just this one day and let Him know you appreciate him! I'm excited and can't wait! He definitely deserves it! 10 a.m. See you there!

Friendship

What do I do when I'm having trouble making friends?
Job 19:19 My close friends abhor me. Those I loved have turned against me.
John 15:15 I no longer call you servants...Now you are my friends.

The first thing we must do is remember that God is our constant friend and will never leave us. God plans for us to have friends. He will bring a closeness and we can rest assured that we can expect something marvelous!

Gratitude

There's probably been ten times I've blogged on Gratitude. It doesn't make sense that people can't at least say "Thank You." I think that's the main problem in society.....no one says "Thank You." Okay I'm on a soapbox. Thank You...how simple is that....Most people can't even muster up enough kindness to say "Thank You." That irritates me to no end! My husband and I discuss the word gratitude regularly. Yesterday I had the wonderful privilege of going to Dillard's at the Mall to spend my birthday gift card from a friend and Dillard's regular gorgeous Mall Store has turned into an Outlet Dillard's where you purchase the left over Dillard's merchandise and you cannot return it! No returns...it was a total disaster. All the counters were empty; you could not try on clothes in the dressing room - they were roped off...the store was a disaster and no one to help. Everything was in disaray. After standing in shock, I finally started looking around.........again no one to help, no one cared to help. I ended up purchasing something and had to walk at the complete other end of the store to pay for it and all I kept doing was thank the clerk for helping me ..... what is this world coming to? The goregous Dillard store looked like a salvage store! It will take me a while to get over this. Imagine going to the perfume counter (there was only one or two left standing) and scratched furniture next to the jewelry counter and the goregous, magnificent china and crystal department was a disaster!!! Not one single bit of gratitude for even walking in and being a customer.

One clerk said it would be a Dillard's store for returned merchandise from all the other great Dillard's stores. Well, all I could say is that you still have a job so be grateful. I won't be going back in.......the attitudes of the clerks that were still there put me in a "gripey" mood, shall we say. I sure don't need that with all I am having to tend to until next Sunday!!!! Have a grateful Wednesday and stay with people who are uplifters!!!!! I know I am!!

Centers of Power

Our whole lives are like our physical bodies - we all have parts that are already strong (centers of powers) and then we have parts we want to strengthen (challenge areas)...a-hmmmm

Our centers of power are those aspects of our lives where we feel competent, confident, fulfilled, at easy and truly alive where we get results. We avoid our challenge area because they make us feel inadequate, incompetent, sometimes even unlovable.

It is important to identify your centers of power and challenge areas. If your challenge areas are neglected for too long they can debilitate the centers of power ---- just as when your health is neglected, your career, home and other areas of life also suffer.

I would like to equate that to a spiritual connection...to the higher power, the spirit, and our Holy God. If you experience merely a hopeless void in this area, this is a challenge that needs immediate attention. Pick up the Bible and read a few verses - that is really our center of power. I know it is for me!!! I challenge you to read God's Holy Word. It is so applicable to giving us power and strength to overcome any obstacles and satan's evil that he tries to do.

Goal: Physical and Spiritual....try both. They work!

Are You A Giver Or Taker?

I'm definitely a giver. I can think of more things to give. But I think the most important of all is that as Christians we should give God's love out...have a happy attitude so that the world sees Christ in us. Lately I have frequented the Dollar Stores looking for things to decorate for fall. Why do we go to WalMart and other expensive stores to get what is so much cheaper at the Dollar Store? So, in that case, I am a giver because I found some $1 things and even 2 for $1. Watch your receipt because she charged me twice for only one $1 table cloth I purchased. Hence there was $1.00 and another $1.00 on the receipt as if I had purchased two. It's a good thing they know me because they will remember me that I did ask the cashier if she charged me double and of course she said no. But as I began looking at the receipt, viola.....I noticed it! I'm glad the Dollar Store is right by the Bank, so when I go back I won't have to waste gas. Being a giver......has made me look closely at my receipts. That's three times this week I was charged double!

Come on ladies....you could be missing out on money in your wallet by not looking at the receipts. I sure learned my lesson..

C ya in W.O.W. (Women of Worth) in a couple of hours. Can't wait.......This is going to be a great class today!!!!

Reminencing

I spent most of my teen years trying to convince myself of my worth by becoming the smart girl, the nice girl, the one who spoke well before an audience and earned excellent grades. In my 20's I sought validation - I gave my power away to those whose offer of love was more important that the love I had left to give myself.

Before a child can even talk, she looks at her parents and others adults to confirm that she counts, that her existence means something! She asks the question: Do my Mom's and Dad's eyes light up when they see me? Do they think I matter?

The choices I made after that were those of my own going into my full blown adult life. I also remember the first time at my Grandma's house I was allowed to wash the dishes. My Grandma put a little stool in front of the sink so I could reach. I was so afraid I'd drop one of her dishes and I asked myself can I really do this? At the core of it all, sometimes we still ask the question Can I really do this? Will I get it right? Am I okay? Of course, the yes answer is what always remains!

Accept yourself for who you are! I love to reminence...I've had a marvelous time reflecting on how I've grown up, the lessons I've learned (& still learning) and what a fabulous life I am having at this time! Hey, while I'm at it....remember W.O.W. (Women of Worth) is tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. - see you there Ladies....great great subject: "Reconciliation"

Experiences

You can take from every experience what it has to offer you. And you cannot be defeated if you just keep taking one breath followed by another. At one time when I almost lost my life through a serious surgery....I learned to take one breath at a time, the Lord kept healing me through the most excruciating pain and scarring. I always felt like I had more life to live - and taking every advantage in life - the primary ones being my health and the ability to take care of myself.

All these years I've beent taking lessons from life experiences. Stay focused; pay attention to everything and take nothing for granted. Celebrate birthdays every day. Give back to the world and the Lord what He has given to me. Open your experiences to grow and maintain growth! Bring it on! Have a super great Friday and weekend!

See ya in church.....10 a.m. Sunday.

Loosen up or you'll the miss the fun of it!

Okay - we're getting into the swing of Holiday already...I was in a store at the Mall yesteray and they had ALL of their Christmas decor out and it's not even October 15th yet! And if I didn't loosen up, I will possibly miss the fun of it! So I threw my head back, forgot about step, step, turn, kick, and just danced, celebrating the onset of Holidays!!! Wheeeeew, that was fun!!! I hope you'll not let it make you uptight and get wrapped up in nonessential stuff...but that you will really enjoy yourself and remember this Season as the time to make moments count.....and guess what??? when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you'll dance. Just enjoy all the decor if nothing else right now. There's Halloween on one corner, then Thanksgiving at the Dollar Stores and Christmas at the Mall! Have a HT - Happy Thursday!!!

Possibilities

One of my favorite authors at one time was Emily Dickinson. She always wrote "I dwell in Possibilities." That means so much to me. When I hear Paul Simon's song "Born at the Right Time" I think he must be singing about me. It makes me understand that I have the right to choose my own path (but since I am a Christ-follower, I ask our precious Lord to guide me as His will predicts) as these choices are a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possibility. What a gift that is to all of us who live in the land of the free! I hope your Wednesday is happy! : )

Posing Question To Me

Here's a question I was asked this week: Does the feeling of entrapment only happen late in life, or does it sometimes occur earlier?

I believe the majority of divorces can be traced to disrespect and marital claustrophobia. In simple every day plain language ladies...that's when you put a chain around your husband's neck or ankle and want him trapped in the home just because you are bored or want to control his life. LET GO and let him breathe!!!!

If a husband feels trapped in the home and is only doing you a favor by working to provide for you and the family, then check out your chain because if you pitch a fit, it adds stress, lies, ill-feelings, entrapment which is very dangerous in your married life. You are devaluing him, trying to make him wimpy and lacking confidence in yourself. Please try to be grateful for all his hard work and appreciative of his wisdom of plain ole honesty and integrity in reaching goals that are attained. And while I'm on the subject.....teach your kids to love and respect their Daddy for caring enough to reach those goals. Kids learn all this from you, Mom, so have some rock solid character and behind their Daddy's back don't rip him apart.

I recently had the privilege of speaking to a Ladies' Meeting that brought out this subject......was I brave? Yes. Did they like it? No. It goes against society's dictation....but I say, be different....go the positive way and maintain a healthy, loving, kind statement household!

Philippians 2:3 says "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves." Have a happy Tuesday! Trust the Lord to help you in every way and e-mail me if your questions need deeper answers.

Unexpectations With Friendship

My life has a new unexpected layer....I thought I was through making close friends. Much to my surprise, thought, I found myself with a friend I hadn't seen for a long time, laughing, talking serious, but just connecting and embracing one another as a part of everyday life. It's added a new meaning, a feeling of community I didn't even know I was missing. We had become friends, oh I would say about five years ago when we were both at a Conference and she didn't bring any ladies from her church and I didn't either. Now, all we have to do when we are too busy is just connect via my blog or a daily devotional she writes that I subscribe to.

I've always known that life is better when you share it. I now realize it gets even sweeter when you expand the circle....look to a friend you haven't seen for a while, make a point to reconnect and enjoy the pure fellowship, friendship, and just plain ole fun! We learn from each other! The unexpected! My heart is open to the future being friends with her. Bring it on!

True Belief

One of my beliefs is this statement I'm going to share and to be honest, it is how I live my life and when I can't I fully rely on God to forgive me for not living this way and redirect my thoughts!

Happiness is never something you get from other people. The happiness I feel is in direct proportion to the Love I choose to give. Let go of your anger with anyone and see what gets returned. Be loving to yourself and others and see that love reciprocated. What you're thinking, what you're saying, what you're doing, is having an impact on you and the people around you right now. I know it for sure.

See ya in Church tomorrow. I have tons of Outreach to do today. God will definitely see me through. Of course I value and appreciate your prayers.

Favorite Season

It's coming upon my favorite Season - thanksgiving!!!! It's not easy being grateful all the time. But it's when you feel least thankful that you are most in need of what gratitude can give you!

I live in the space of thankfulness and I have been rewarded a million times over for it! I started out telling ladies to give thanks for small things, like a doorknob! That's because what you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.

I know some people who have a problem with "Thank you" say, "You don't have to thank me!" Excuse me....oh yes we do! You wanna get me on a soapbox - try that one on for size! You're saying thank you because you know that even in the eye of the storm, God has put a rainbow in your clouds. You're saying thank you because you know there's no problem created that can compare to the Creator of all things!

I challenge you to start a gratitude journal...begin by listing five things that you are grateful for. And....if the only prayer you ever say in your whole life is "Thank you," - that would suffice! Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul from the pits of hell!!!! I promised it will allow you to look at your day differently!

Thank you Lord for Friday, for beautiful weather, for my mums that are blossoming out so very lovely, for family that loves me, for a husband who provides, for love, comfort and care from our almighty God, for ....and the list goes on and on. How about you? How far does your list go? Guess you can see now while my favorite Season is Thanksgiving! Yea!!!!

Who Defines Your Life?

It's up to each of us to get very still and say, "This is WHO I am." No one else definites your life. Only you do.

So whenever trouble comes my way, I ask, "What is this here to teach me? What am I not seeing?" I know the answer will come. And I stay close (very close) to God!

Are You Living Your Best Life?

Why not? I know some who love pure misery. Well, that's not me. I also know some who delight in always starting a ruckus. (That's an Okie term). Some people can't stand someone else being happy. ....or how about this one? They want to control your life and when they can't - they stay away thinking it will hurt you.....not me...I figure it's their problem if they want to live in that kind of chaos.

On to living your best life. Here's an inspirational thought: Friends are important because they are the ones who are there for you when you are in need of security and advice. They accept you for you and make your life more fun and exciting! Chew on that one for a while. Live your best life - it's all you have!

It Was Fun!!! ...some random thoughts....

My hubby's birthday yesterday......I made his favorite cake in the whole wide world...chocolate mayonnaise cake....homemade, real homemade icing - you know the old fashioned kind confectioners sugar, butter, vanila (that sounds like a mystery seasoning now since it's not used very much) and real hershey's cocoa!!!! Tasted a little dry with the cake because I only had Europiean cocoa....but I went to the store and got hershey's for the icing and it was fabulous! Well, he's one year older, but seems to love it!!! A-ha.....and it's not old like he thought it would be!

Today is a great day to remind ourselves that fall weather is almost here....a bit chilly in the mornings...I have to prepare myself for fall and I noticed our neighbor is raking his leaves already.......hmmm.....is it time for fall clothes..what prepares you for fall? After I planted the Mums, I saw fall coming and I did wear a hoodie Sunday while the football game was on. Of course, my hubby says I'm cold natured anyway...guess I am....have a terrific Tuesday!

JOY

What does the word joy mean to you?

To me it means the happiest of happies!!!!

I'm a very JOY-ful person and I really make no bones about it. I've even been criticized unbearingly by statements like "Where does she get her energy?" to "She couldn't be that happy!" It doesn't take much to make me joyful. I'm just joyous. Maybe that's why my Mom named me Carol....it means JOY!!!

Today just give it a try.............being joyful! It may make people wonder what you're up to!!!!

Practice being JOYFUL; it's an exercise you won't forget!!!!

Inspirational Thought

Belief in ourselves is like a muscle --- it is strengthened by constant and careful use.

Whether you believe you CAN or you believe you cannot - you're right either way.

I base my beliefs on the Bible. So........in looking up Proverbs 3:5-6 it plainly says "lean not unto your own understanding" but to "TRUST in God." Do we really trust in God or us....I can guarantee you it's okay to believe in one's self. God is always there to lean on and I can assure you of that one FACT!

See ya in church. 10 a.m. let's fill up the pews!!!!!!!! Awesome!

Favorite Thing To Do

One of my favorite things to do is go sit by the Lake and watch the waves come in. My husband is getting ready to celebrate a happy event...one year older (or is it younger) trust me, he doesn't like a lot of hip hip hoorah for his birthday like some of us....ahmmmmmm .....so yesterday I got him one of the things he wanted, fishing license so off to the Lake we go...he caught a lot of fish (I love watching that) and I actually laid on the bench and fell asleep....it was so peaceful...and as it got darker...it was still so peaceful. Anyway, we had a lil' picnic right there on the lake; then we came back home and watched the debates.

It's fun to go to the Lake and clear my brain with my favorite and his also, thing to do!!!! Hope your Saturday is eventful.

A final note: I wish our grandson would have been there to see the look on his face when his grandpa caught a catfish!!! Again, have a super Saturday!

Super Day!

Hi-ya.....it looks like a super day to "tie up loose ends" which means...go get the dog food, stand in line at the Post Office and get stamps, go out and make someone's day (my favorite thing to do) and some work at the church....wrapped up in a super day! Have a Super Day yourself...while I'm at it!!! :)

Finally Caught Up!

I'm finally caught up on reading blogs that I'm associated with. I tell ya, there's an aweful lot of hurting people out there. Does anyone really care? I do. That's what's so aggravating that there are people who care and I'm proud to say put me in that category. All they have to do is pick up the phone, call, and share. Too much pride!!! But, writing their thoughts on their blog is their own way of saying "hey does anyone care????" Whatever you do, please don't fall in the negative attitude of it's all about me and who cares about anyone else. I have seen time after time this happening and believe you me they are the ones that can live with that attitude...I don't choose to be that way!

We raised two phenomenal kids - of course they are grown and have an adult life but they are both extremely caring and that makes me proud as a Mom and that's what it's all about and added to that is a daughter-in-law who cares and two caring grandkids. I came up with a good phrase...the family that cares together, stays together!!!! Now, that's encouraging! and......I'm so very grateful that our daughter took time out of her very busy schedule to call last night checking on us. That was cool. and.....why blog? because I love it!!!! It's a time to be thankful and thoughtful of others.......family.....church members.....friends.....learning about relationships, etc.....the list goes on and on. It does take time to get caught up, but my heart is happy for all the great things that have been happening to families and people!!!!

Again, the moral of this story is - there are people who think seeing obstacles is a sign of maturity and insight. But, anyone of average intelligence can do that. God wants people who see a way beyond the obstacles and who encourage others to take it!

Honor the Whole Team!

People who build successful teams never forget tht every person's role is contributing tot he bigger picture.

We have a team of volunteers at church each month now! We all need encouragement. Just letting someone know their work is appreciated makes this team run more smoothly, becoming stronger and more effective. it sure has taken a load off me!

The nice thing about teamwork is that you always have others on your side!!! Amen on that one! Enjoy your Wednesday!

New Feeling - random super thoughts!

A lot of people at church yesterday said I had a new take on my blog lately...they say they enjoy me sharing personal stuff........hmmmmmm so ....I can honestly say it gives me a new feeling and maybe someone out there in cyberspace can be uplifted by something that has happened or going to happen to me...who knows....I enjoy sharing my heart and love everyone so much that communicate with me - hey guys that doesn't mean I don't love the ones who don't communicate....I'm a people person and my gift is exhorting (so says my husband) so if you don't want to be exhorted (or encouraged my takes won't mean anything! it's awesome! What's awesome? Hearing from everyone!

Have a very happy Monday! Think I'll get this day going by pre-shopping for my hubby's b-day next Monday...the only super thing is he is going with me....we'll just shop 'til we drop...he says he doesn't want anything, but surely at an Outlet Mall he'll crater!!!!!!

Be Grateful When Feeling Good

The happiest person on earth isn't always happy. In fact, the happiest people all have their fair share of low moods, problems, disappointments, and heartache. Often the differenc ebetween a person who is happy and someone who is unhappy is how often they get low, or even how low they drop, but instead it's what they do with their low moods. How do they relate to their changing feelings?

When I observe peaceful, relaxed people, I find that that when they are feeling good, they are so caring and very grateful. They understand that both positive and negative feels come and go, and that there will come a time when they won't be feeling so good. To happy people, this is okay; it's the way of things.

To a person always in a low mood, they don't know the difference because they are so comfortable with their low moods. They don't care because in due time maybe they'll be happy and maybe not. (Most generally not). And to be honest, they are drainy to me....my energy gets sapped from their "pretty far down mood."

I'd rather have grateful feelings and feel good, wouldn't you?

Such Joy!

Yesterday I had the JOY of visiting with a devout friend of mine and she has a boyfriend who is an Attorney. She was telling me what a great trip they had to go to Colorado and ski. .....and at the tip top of the mountains where they were skiing of all things he receives an urgent call from his office re: one of his clients. I never laughed so hard in my life. Now, remember, I wouldn't know the least bit about skiing because that is something I've never done in my entire life. My grandkids know more about it than I ever thought of having any idea! As she told the story how complicated it got, I couldn't stop laughing thinking of the visual! Then she started comparing what it would be like to be married to a Pastor (my circumstances) as to an Attorney........trust me...believe it or not, there's not much difference...anyway such JOY we had just sharing!!!!!

have you ever done that? just shared JOY? Try it, you'll like it!!!! I'm totally convinced that JOY will really enlighten your day; don't think about being all stressed out...get on a subject that will share JOY - it's healthy for the soul!

See ya at W.O.W. tomorrow (I'll be preparing for it today). 9 a.m. Love, JOY, and lots of humor, Carol

Took the Week Off Blogging

Since I love blogging so much, I decided to take the week off and rest my brain on writing. I have truly missed blogging! I got caught up on the other people I blog with, so that was awesome!

In our area of Church work (which is 98 percent of our time) we did a counting of how many visitors we have had at our church. It pretty much averages 100 a year...we have 500 visitor cards filled out. That's totally amazing. Some have stayed; some have not. Some are just passing through; some don't have a church home; it took a while to do the report, but it sure has been interesting!

I hope your Friday turns out well. There have been so many who are enjoying this fall weather. I planted 6 bunches of Mums....they are so beautiful; I can't stop looking at them. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

My husband took me on a lunch date yesterday...to my very favorite place, Los Lupes. I actually cratered and ate the smorgusboard lunch! Talk about being stuffed! No way I could go back for seconds; oh, I love their tamales.....yum, yum, yum! It's just as cheap to get the smorgusboard because of the lunch specials.

Let me hear from you and what you are up to and I hope your week has been awesome.
Happy Friday!!!

Trust Issues

I have many good memories and some bad ones about trust issues. I recall the victories, the failures, the wise choices that someone was watching out for my best interest, and the mistakes that were made because I assured my self I could trust the person I told something to, but in the long run it back-fired on me.

The one thing my husband and I have is devout trust and he shares with me his heart and the fact that people say things to him about "his own wife." Does it hurt? You bet it does. The way I see it; sad as it may be, they are the ones that have to live with their guilty conscience. I have asked God to help me learn and grow because of them. To forgive my shortcomings and show me how to forgive them. He will grant me the love and strength to forgive those who have wronged me. And when the hurt returns, I will thank Him for getting through the chaos it involved.

Then the good memories flow through like a sweet, floral fragrance, so pleasant, so good. The times can never be retrieved; someetimes I wish they could. I'm learning to retrieve the lively, warm fires and to leave the sad, cold ashes behind. Forgiveness lingers like a healing balm and I remember to thank the Lord for the trials.

I know there are several people who e-mail me comments instead of putting them out here on the web; but yet, still, my confidence is in the Lord who gives me strength and encouragement. And plus I have phenomenal bounce back!

Just sharing my heart.....have a wonderful Lord's Day filled with many blessings and joy.

See you in Church 10:00 a.m. Yep I'm up early and can't wait!!!!!

Some People Subtract Something From Life

we tolerate them.
I read once what Julius Caesar asserted "A friend should bear his friend's infirmities. But Brutus makes mine great than they are." That's what subtracers do. They do not bear our burdens and they make heavier the ones we already have. The sad thing about subtracters is that what they do is usually unintentional. If you don't know how to add to others, then you probably subtract by default.

It's similar to the difference between building a relationship and purposely tearing it down. It takes a skilled craftsman much time and energy to build a beautiful chair. It takes no skill whatsoever to smash that chair in a matter of moments.

I value people who multiply something in life than the people who go around subtracting from life! How about you? I'm fortunate - for every bad that a person does to tear me down I have so many who respect me and sharpen my vision and maximize my strengths.

I'm encouraged by focusing on the importance of valuing and growing trustin relationships. I want to add to someone's success than see them stumble.

True character is seen when you ADD to making someone's life important and not tearing them down all the time. That's the bottom line.......say happy things about someone; don't get caught ruining their testimony and causing a rift in their marriage. And please know I would rather have my strengths maximizes than my faults! Any day! See ya in church! 10 a.m. tomorrow!

Givers or Takers?

I'm definitely a giver because I don't receive well. I'm always grateful but when I recently had my birthday; I couldn't wait to send my "Thank You's" because of my appreciation. What about You? Are you a giver or a taker? Or are you somewhere in between? What concrete steps can you take today and move further along from being a taker to being a giver? II Corinthians 8:1-5 is great to read regarding Jesus' affirming words about Mary's extravagant gift to Him. I always want to give a gift; shopping for someone is such a joy. My husband says I have giving attacks - that's when I always want to take a person or our family out to eat.....it makes me feel good to see someone appreciate what they received or just really like what I took time to get them. I could write on and on about this subject.

I hope your Friday is just fantastic. I have a lot of loose ends to tie up and get ready for Q&A for Sunday. We're having hamburgers instead of hot dogs this time. That should be super! Hope you will plan to come out - worship at 10 a.m. and Q&A around 11:10 a.m. It would be our pleasure to serve you!

The Eternal Love Of God

As I have listened to hundreds of stories from women; their disappointment and anger falls into three categories. We are disappointed in ourselves, in others, and in our more honest moments, we are disappointed with God.

Our culture calls to us that what we need is self-esteem, that all would be well if we just felt better about ourselves. That is a lie. We live on a broken planet....a disappointing place. But, I urge you to bring whatever it is about yourself that disappoints you to God and let Him love you as you are right now. We cannot do it on our own, but God's outrageous and eternal love teaches us how to forgive. It is God's gift to us to help us live in a world that is not fair. All we have to do is ask God for the grace to extend forgiveness. Has someone hurt or disappointed you? Forgive and forgive again. Don't let a root of bitterness well up.

I encourage you to read Titus 3:4-5. God's love is definitely eternal!

Today is a sad day in history as we all know...9/11/02 devastating and tradgic....I urge you to pause a moment to reflect on New York and what those people are still feeling the pain of lost loved ones. It is going to be my plan today to pray for all in New York as so many of the news coverage brings back the horrifying event - I know it must be difficult for all.....I hope they feel God's love (His Eternal Love) in such a special way this day. ...from my heart, Carol

Peace

It's so peaceful in the morning time when all the neighborhood is sleeping and sometimes I sit on the front porch and do some "thinkin." I've been thinkin' about peace lately. Peace is a choice! I've seen some people walk their dogs early in the morning and if the dogs starts barking, they don't say a word to the dog in that it might awaken someone. Don't tell me we are living in a world of non-caring that badly? I choose peace. I very carefully close the front door so I will not awaken my hubby or even our dogs.

I've earned this peace......Being a morning person means I always got to work early and got my day going. It's a great time to think....just get things going.......so I hope you have a lot of peace in your home. I met with a lady this morning - oh - let's say around 5ish a.m. and she has three daughters.......great person and she just wanted to tell me how much I had helped her....wow! Can't beat that peace and contentment from a compliment like that!

Have a happy Wednesday. I know I will! I have so much to be thankful for!!!!

About Relationship Living In Marriage

Keep the fire going!

In dealing with women each week, several times I have been asked to tell about the many many years I have in relationship living in marriage. Okay, here's my encouragement:

I'm sixty-five.
I spent some of the years of my marrige expecting my husband to be more like me.
I spent the next ten years resenting that he wasn't.
Young women - and that's those of you under sixty - don't do that.
That's not living; that's drudgery.
You want to live. You don't want to drudge. Trust me!
Understand your man and get on with life!

Make it your goal to know what his pet peeves are. Then honor them and him definitely! Don't make him a project. If you want a project, take up knitting! Please him. If he likes a clean house, clean it up. I make it a point to have laughter in our marriage. Laughing for the pure joy of laughing. And laughing again and again! It's a great connection with him! Laughter is the exclamation point put on life! I'll put out some tid-bits in my blog. After forty-one years of marriage I definitely have some encouragement. All I ask is don't get a critical spirit of your husband.....honor, praise, and be grateful for him.

How Precious Are Those Grandkids? Very Precious!!

I missed their call! Our precious grandkids called to wish us a Happy Grandparents Day! I fell asleep on the couch after the ballgame and clean missed their call.. but they were on the answering machine so I heard part of it. Other than that, my hubby picked it up and for some reason I couldn't wake up enough to talk to them!

They are precious......oh so precious....I'll talk to them sometime soon...they have such perfect phone manners....and yes, they are very precious!

Have a happy Monday!!!! I've already been out and about, so I know I will!

Grandparent's Day!!!!

Don't even get me started on this day! I LOVE being a Grandma. Recently we purchased a bunk bed for our two grandkids - of course they have their own room at G & G's home! So, we went to Anna's Linens to purchase the bed spread, sheets, etc. Our granddaughter chose the most lucious colors - aqua and brown and the complete twin size bed set was awesome....she chose striped with those color sheets and pillow cases. What's really neat is she chose a package that had super extra stuff -even to large towells to match! They are all gorgeous on her bed with the cool pillows. Then our grandson chose Nascar theme with a leather wheel pillow and a big (giant) pillow of walle-e eve - it's a cool pillow and what I love the most about going shopping with them is I'm up on what the new craze is! And they are always so grateful...what magnificent kids! So, do I love Grandparent's Day? Yep!

I hope they have a terrific day as well as their parents because today is their wedding anniversary; so in thinking about this day; it's going to be quite eventful for all concerned! Here's something our granddaughter (she's 10 yrs. of age) wrote on our chalkboard here at Grandma's. "Welcome to G & G's house where a grandkid can be a grandkid." Can't beat that one with a stick!!!!

Someone has said, when a woman has stopped bragging about how smart her chilren are (that won't ever happen with me) it's because she has started bragging about how smart her grandchildren are!!! Oh yes, and with that and a fresh cup of coffee this bright and early Lord's Day, I am going to enjoy being a Grandma - you bet~!!!!

I wouldn't leave our grandson out for the world!!!! ........there are no other word to describe him as very aware! He always notices when something is different when he comes over and it's as if he looks around and makes a special point to make a comment about something I have changed or things he really likes. He is so cool!

See ya in W.O.W. 9 a.m. Great Subject you won't want to miss!!!!

TLC

TLC means Touch,
Love,
and Care.

The Bible is not a child-rearing manual, but it does give the basic principles we need to learn about how to be patient, encouraging, accepting, and loving in our correction and TLC of previous past with our children each day and at this point in life, of course, our grandchildren.

As we trust in the Bible timeless truths, we will "mount up with wings as eagles," because we have God's own promise ....believe according to My Word and you will live in joy.....and peace.....I think it's time we spread a little love around, as the song says, and have a lot of TLC - Touch, Love, and Care.

Reminder: Tomorrow - 9 a.m. W.O.W. Women of Worth....see you there!

Starbucks anyone????

Friday's a good Starbuck's day. I received a gift card for my birthday so away I'll go.....it's been a while since I've gone, but I'm sure I will run into someone I haven't seen for a while. Plus it's always a great place to get motivated to get all tasks done! Happy Friday to you and hope your "Starbuck's Day" is awesome!

The power of our minds

Many people spend a great deal of energy arguing for their own limitations, "I can't do that," "I can't help it, I've always been that way," "I'll never have a loving relationship," and thousands of other negative and self-defeating statements.

Our minds are powerful instruments. When we decide that something is true or beyond our reach, it's very difficult to pierce through this self-created hurdles. You'll fil your head with limitations that will frighten you from trying. In order to become a writer or anything else, the first step is to silence your greatest critic -you! Hopefully, make yourself turn your criticism into tolerance and respect and catch yourself being negative. This world needs more loving and positive people so make up your mind, which is what I have a goal to achieve....A mind to say positive, uplifting things!!!! Have a super Thursday! En-courage instead of dis-courage!!!!!

Love Seeks No Reward

When you love, you love and no one can stop you from loving. If you still love someone, just know that you love them and keep on loving! Love remains constant, an immovable reality in our lives. I think when we know we are absolutely loved at all times we live out of a desire to please and honor the one we are in relationship with. I keep these Bible verses Psalm 139:1-6 close by........"Lord, you have examined me and know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know my thoughts before I think them. You know where I go and where I lie down. You know thoroughly everything I do. Lord, even before I say a word, you already know it. You are all around me in front and in back and have put your hand on me. Your knowledge is amazing to me; it is more than I can understand."

Mothers

I wouldn't trade anything in the world for being a Mother...it has so many fabulous memories of joys and happiness. Whenever I feel myself inferior to everything about me...I can still hold up my head and say to myself: "I am the daughter of the woman who.....had so many kids she didn't know what to do with them...so we did for ourselves and boy did we ever become self-dependent!" Let me not forget that I am the daughter of a woman who bent her head, trembling as she stated many times "You kids...I don't know what I am going to do with you." At the same time, a woman/Mother who still took the time to introduce me to soothing luxury of a bubble bath and who let me venture out on my own and that is where I found the edges of my personality rounded out as at the age of 15 went to work (walked to work) in a Drug Store where my first job was a "soda clerk"......

Even though my Mother is not with me (she passed on when I was 25 years of age), I can never escape her presence in my heart. Never, never.

I hope this has been an encouragement to those of you whose Mother is always in your heart every single day and that you'll celebrate often the glorious Mom/Momma/Mother you have now or did have! Oh, the joy of being the Mom and reminiscensing of how fabulous it is to be the Mom of two kids and the unique bond between us. I hope this encourages you to stay close in love, admiration and respect to your Mother because if you are a Mother you will reap the benefits later on passing on a heritage and beautiful thoughts of the wonderful times and again JOY of being a Mother. It's a relationship that defies a complete description. Remember also to let love rule!

Happy Sunday, happy mothering, and have a safe, restful Labor Day weekend!

Getting Focused

Sometimes it's hard to find answers just when we need them most. Like getting the "crude" "bug" or whatever it is called. I thought it was the 24/hr. but it turned out to be the 4-day! Ever been ill at the same time as your hubby...not fun! I'm up and getting focused....we have a pretty big job to do tomorrow, so we're both hoping the bug stays away all day so we can get our work done.

Probabaly the rest has done us some good - we hope! Hearing from both of our kids was encouraging!!! My husband and I felt like it came from eating some bad chicken and lingered. Who knows? But for today I feel some better. It has run "its course" long enough for me. Have a happy Labor Day weekend. C ya in Church tomorrow 10 a.m.

More On Love

What's wrong with saying "I love you." I've been known to say it to some of our church members. Question: Must I love other people? I believe we are commanded (in the Bible and this is where I base all my facts) to love one another. The song "Love makes the world go round" is always on my mind! I claim John 13:34-35 "I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."

I don't see anything wrong about saying I love you.....I see the right of it. I believe it's my Christian duty because being a Christian comes with certain expectations. One of them is that we will love others. Our Christian conduct is proof of wheter we love each other, and loving each other is proof that we belong to Christ.

What a re some special things that come from a loving relationship?

Proverbs 10:12 - Love covers all offenses.

I Corinthians 13:4-7 - Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up.

The gifts that come from love are many including forgiveness, patience, kindness, love for truth, love for justice, love for the best in a person, loyalty at any cost, and belif in a person no matter.

For my birthday this week I have had many people that have been an inspiration in previous years and I have ended the phone call with I love you and they with me.

As the song says, "Spread a little love around........" Why not, it sure feels good to know people are that valuable! They are to me!!! And if someone doesn't like it; they are jealous because they withhold love and need to be more loving, kind, and patient. Someone asked me what I want for my birthday? I said "Love" and they said "Hey that's a great gift - we all need it." Everyone needs love. Trust me.. it makes a difference in my life and your's also, if you'll just love.

A Super Day

Great is the Lord and great is His faithfulness, love and mercy!

I'm having a superb pre-birthday week. Wow! Thanks everyone!

A True Friend

......is on call 24/7.

Friends get you through bad times and help you enjoy good times!

Right now (I love) just talking on the phone with my friends. I like to find out what's going on with everyone so that when I go back, I'm not compltely out of it.

A friend is an inspiration to me.

Friends are important because you know they are there!

A friend recognizes your mistakes, but doesn't keep count of them. ....is there to forgive and forget!

Friends are not friend if I cannot trust them. Especially is someone tells me they said something behind my back!

A friend will defend you even if you're wrong - because anyone can defend you when you're right!

A friend will not do something purposely to cause strife between my husband and me.

In your heart you possess the key to friendship; nurture it well.

The Week Of All Weeks

......looking forward to a week of all weeks..............my pre-birthday week!!!!
My husband has "soft-cuddled" me to remind me it's hard for me to receive because I AM A GIVER............... Back to the subject of "receiving" I begin the week, having already received an awesome gift from a friend of mine (by the way there were 4 gifts inside the wrappings) so beginning with gift #1.........I am proud to proclaim that I received them very well and with much appreciation. (I will admit, I was thinking about getting her a gift all while I was opening all of it.....) ooooops ....I'm allowed one mess up.....just kidding.......It's always been hard for me on my birthday because my Mom passed away on the day before.

Will this week be joyous? Absolutely....I'm looking forward to a great Church Service at 10 a.m. today; Q&A with a super lunch.....and the week of all weeks!!!!

In the meantime, make Saturday a good day!!!

Love

Must I love other people? What if I don't want to? was asked to me.

John 13:34-35 - I am giving you a new commandment; Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

We worship Him and praise Him for His love to US.

Love helps us to stay focused.

I'm late with my blog today.....I was up at 4 a.m. serving breakfast to a gentleman in our church going on a trip by air......My husband, him, and I ate a fabulous breakfast which I cooked (which he wanted) of french toast, egg, toast and bacon. I hope your day has gone well with lots of love and kindness shown to all!!!!

Now I may be a tad bit late for our date tonight because I have to find a song to sing that my husband has requested by him and me! Enjoy whatever you are doing!

Hope is so Encouraging!

Our daughter Directed "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.

The play in essence said "Reflect upon your blessings, of which every man has PLENTY, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some." Hang on to hope!

You can't drive into the future if you're looking into a rear vision mirror!

One more encouraging thought: Hope is what happens when you first see a light...just a distant, small star in the darkest of night!

Happy Thursday!

Encourage Others and Change Their Thinking!

Everyone needs encouragement. And everyone-young or old, the successful or less than successful, unknown or famous who receives encouragaement is changed by it!

As Mark Twain said, "One compliment can keep me going for a whole month!"

A word of encouragement from a teacher to a child can change his/her life!

You never know when a moment and few sincere words can have an impact on a life!

Help people gain courage!!!! and then see them go on to change the world!

Yesterday I spent approximately three hours with a lovely lady who is 81 years (young) and what a blessing and encouragement she was! Oh to live my life like her's.....wow! I couldn't even describe how uplifting she was! What an example of a lady that loves her family, her job (yes, she is still working) and such a joy! What an encouragement to pattern after. I think we have lost the old fashioned of learning from the older women who are dynamite, fabulous love and encouragement. I pray I'm like her when I am that age! Thanks Mildred!!!!!

Where Is God In Time Of Crisis?

Psalm 46:1-2 - God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear.

God does not say He will always prevent crisis in our life - we live in a world where not so good things happen. But God does promise always to be with us, helping us through ANY crisis.

Call upon Him. He is there, ready to give comfort!

My Favorite Blogging Subject

Prayer

Prayer is an act of humble worship in which we seek God with ALL our heart.

Prayer often begins with a confession of wrongs.

Prayer is asking God for guidance and waiting for his direction and leading.

Prayer is an expression of an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father who makes His own love and resources available to us.

Does God always answer prayer?
I John 5:14 We can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask Himf or anything in line with His will.

The Priest in I Samuel said "Let's ask God first."

Take time to pray and please thank Him for all His provisions!

Yea - tonight - Fright Night Date Night!!! : )

Looking At Life

As I write, looking at life so scantily touches upon the magnitude of this ever-demanding, top-level priority.....I've been a mother for 37 years and am now the grandmother of two precious tots. It's true that if you have children you are a mother forever. For Life! Ages and stages change. On and on the ripples of our Godly influence stretch, days, weeks, months, years, decades ebbing their way. The impact of mothering is unmeasurable. Raising our children was so rewarding and now being "bonding" friends with them is incredible.

So I beseech you, Moms, give mothering all of the passion and purpose it deserves and requires to be done well. Then all the days of your life will be days...and decades...of passion and purpose! Enjoy your Thursday! And while you're at it, make someone's day!

Truth

Who determines truth?
II Samual 7:28 "You are God, Your words are truth."
Only God determines absolute truth.

Does God really expect us to tell the truth?
Absolutely unequivably! God's law clearly forbids intentional lying!

I hold up the truth in love! I've seen people conveniently "lie" or "deny" (they both go hand and hand) but still blame and to me it depends on how many people are supporting the lie! Okay....that gets me on a soapbox.....I was sharing with one of my sisters yesterday to remember how sore our bottom got from a leather belt when our Momma thought we were lying as kids????? That's something you never
forget! Yet, people still want to prove a lie and think they are right! Especially when someone won't look me straight in the eye and accuse me of a lie.....I become an extreme introvert on that one and like my Sis said; then that becomes their problem....I really don't think people who really do lie (I'll be bold about it) have lied so much they can't tell the difference between a lie and truth!!!

I do know as a word of encouragement, the Bible says "The truth shall set you free!" So come on always be truthful and you live with a conscience that is loving, truthful, and respectful to those around you. I hope your Wednesday is happy!

I'm still figuring out how I can get you to subscribe to my blog....so far I do not know how as I know many of you have replied to subscribe.....so please be patient with me......I need to find the answer and I promise I will know soon!

Innocent Precious Grandchildren

For those out there in cyberspace who are Grandmas...I have a few encouraging words to say to you. I just finished having our Grandkiddos and looking into their precious faces reminds me how very innocent they are especially because they love me unconditionally. They trust me and I trust them. Our grandson lost his two front teeth after we left from taking them home and he called me to share it with me. He knew his Grandma cared and was concerned because he bit down on a chicken piece yesterday and it made his tooth "more loose."

I have two grandchildren and for each I hve a golden charm in my keepsake treasures. Each night I look at them and for each day I say a loving prayer. To show a child what has once delighted me, and rediscover my pleasure in their interest; this is the great happiness of being a Grandma!! Someone has said, "A garden of love grows in a Grandma." Truer words have never been spoken. Thanks kids....you are both adorable, loving, and so much fun!!!!

Humility

What is true humility?

Humility is not thinking too highly of yourself!

Matthew 18:4 Anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Humility is childlikeness.

Humility is gentleness.

Humility is not having to prove yourself and allows us to take advice.

Humility means accepting the authority of those who are over us.

Humility means thinking of others as better than yourself!

Most of all, humility opens our eyes to see God at work in our life.

God honors and exalts the humble! It strengthens our character - it is for our own good.

Most of all, humility leads to wisdom!

I think humility is admitting our mistakes and just be meek enough to say hey I messed up. In other words being a bigger person!!! Be a part of the bigger picture!!! I pray to be humble as I know the Lord can lift me up to higher levels of living....all the happy things that eliminate stress....just be humble and want what's best for others!!!!

Success

Success is always something you have to recover from!

When I was in High School and College, they would say "She's high-headed; she thinks she's smart." Especially when being very successful.

I'm happy when people are successful. it's aweful to think they don't deserve it! They do deserve it!!!! Trust me, a lot of blood sweat hard work and long hours and fulfilling their dream and goals is what made them be successful in the first place!

God is good! He's giving us a successful ministry for His honor and glory!

If you don't already have a church home, please come to Lighthouse Church at 10 a.m. You're find a warm welcome, great music, and a relevant message! No one will pry into your business, but will be glad you are there!

Excuses

I hope this blog comes across positive.

Genesis 16:5 Then Sarai said to Abram, "It's all your fault!"

In Exodus 32:24 Aaron's lame excuse for making an idol - something expressly condemned by God - was that it just happened! How often we do the same thing, blaming our actions on circumstances beyond our control. But we are completely accountable for ALL our actions.

What excuse do we have for not putting others first? That's what life is all about to me. And that's where I get my joy. There's no excuse for withholding love when you have it to give.

'Nuff said.....I am going to have a fun day today with two of the most marvelous, adorable, well behaved, awesome kids in the Universe......our grandkids!!! See ya in Church tomorrow!

Planning Ahead

Planning and foresight will help us prepare for danger ahead so that we can avoid disastrous consequences.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths."

Oh wow, do we need to be reminded of that!

And in planning, remember other people are involved, so consider each one and what they have to say. I am definitely a planner. Nine times out of ten, when I plan the music schedule for Sunday, it's always goes right along with my husband's topic. I'm in one room planning music and he's in the other studying; neither one seeing what the other is working on....and it always comes out that we are both of the same mind, and subject! That's awesome in my books!

Speaking of planning, I am planning such a super time with our adorable grandkids this weekend! ....or is it.....they plan me!!! That's ok too!!! : )

Jealousy

Wy is jealousy so dangerous?
Proverbs 14:30 A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away.
Jealousy brings decay to our life because it causes us to focus on anger and bitterness.

Proverbs 17:4 Anger is cruel...but who can survive the destructiveness of jealousy?
Jealousy tears families and friends apart.

My own opinion about jealousy is truly it is destructive!!! Just be happy for someone else getting great things or happy things! Forgive someone you are holding a grudge against. Jealousy sticks out like a sore thumb and it makes me not even want to be around that person. It stinks! You can smell it a mile away! The way I note that women get jealous is no comment when you try to connect and communiate with them.

The encouraging attitude to have is just be glad for the other person; enjoy their getting something when you don't! It shows so badly in your attitude when you are jealous and truly does tear families apart! Share their joy! Get rid of jealousy.....it's so unhealthy!

My birthday is coming up and I've had friends call already to rsvp...oh, I can't even begin to say how happy they are for me and just can't wait to see us and ENJOY my big day...that my dear friend is happiness, not jealousy!!! I love it...someone else being so happy for me!!! Have a really great Thursday and please throw out the attitude of jealousy!!!!! It's not becoming to you!

Encouragement Gives Us Hope

Model optimism!

Optimism is contagious.

Communicate optimism!

Everyone needs a sense of significance.

By giving tasks that make people feel like they are a part of their own solution!

Keep hope alive!

If you know someone who is in the middle of a difficult situation - a long illness or a period of financial strain - your words of kindness, love and your confidence in them; your ability to lighten their load brings hope into their life!

Come on - we all can offer hope - because encouragement changes everything! Happy Wednesday and keep growing a positive attitude to improve life for yourself & others!

P.M. Blog

I got busy playing and walking our dog, Pixie and just jotted my memory re: my blog. Pixie is so smart, that I can point to something now and she knows what I mean. Who says dogs don't have keen minds? She sure does!!!! She's loves to go for a walk! She has always been an inquisitive minded precious dog!

I hope everyone saw the NBC poll that was taken: Just in case you didn't:

86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance
14% against

[That is a pretty 'commanding' public response. ]

Yea!!! This is awesome! To leave God in........victory, oh victory! Yea!!!
I didn't get a chance to get in the poll, but if you did....THANK YOU!!!!!

500th Posting!!!!.....some great thoughts today!

Wow! Today is the 500th posting I have actually given my take on and published! That must be why I'm up early to celebrate! ('jez kidding)....some morning just begin earlier and this is one of them! Guess it was meant for me to get caught up on my reading. Just let me encourage you today. Think kindly of someone instead of always thinking negatively! This world needs more positive people! People who care about the welfare of others. I know God has truly given us two kids (are they called kids when they are grown adults???....hmmmm) Both of them have communicated with either me or their Dad before the week begins and that's so appreciated! It is so amazing that they take time out of a very busy schedule and check in. I am so moved to get plenty of rest and keep on, keepin' on, as we used to say when we lived in California at one time!!!

And those are my great thoughts, though they possibly may be random....how about you? Hopefully your Monday will be happy. I know mine will be thinking about blogging 500 times! Wow!

Yea - It's Sunday!!!

I know I've blogged this title before......but I do LOVE SUNDAYS....a time to worship God....a time to hear the Word, a time to fellowship with all.....a time to just be sacred, I guess. I love just being me and this is what our church does for me....of course the people are wonderful....so put on your duds and come on out!!!! Just be YOU at our church. We are relevant, right in the then and now!!!! You will find a friendly warm spirit and as someone put it "a loving church." So come on out today and stay for Q&A.....it's a time when you can ask my husband (the Pastor of course) any question that is on your mind...you're be surprised at some of them...very transparent.....and sooooo good, so we will see you then.....remember services begin at 10 a.m. until 11 only.

Gotta go walk....our dog, Pixie...See ya.
