Blog or Facebook????

I'll take BLOG any day! My husband asked me the question and that was my answer. My spiritual gift is Encouragement so it makes me feel fulfilled to write something that is encouraging. We all need encouragement. I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have encouragement. Compliments are an encouragement to me! I steer away from people who don't give me compliments. Why? Because I don't feel they are watching after my best interest or perhaps they are jealous. If they don't invite me into their life, I sure don't push myself in. This is what they say blogs originally came across....discuss your feelings, getting to know this person; happy in writing what is on one's mind. I thank God every and I do mean every single day that our Son took time out of a busy schedule to set this up for me. I love blogging and being a person who thrives on compliments and I want so much to encouragement whomever reads it, the two go hand and hand. Whoa!!!! Fulfillment and a good feeling of writing thoughts I am so happy that begin my day with positiveness, helping others, loving more, etc........... The rewards are many, believe me. Our daughter fixed it up so that you can subscribe to my blog and many do, so that in and of itself is a super blessing! Have a very great Tuesday!

Help With Priorities

The picture is worth a thousand words! And the picture God painted in Proverbs 31:10-31 of the wise woman in her excellence has served me as a model of a woman who lived out her priorities. I'm so thankful that I found her in the Bible some 30 years ago. Through her portrait, you and I, as have women down through the ages, can walk beside a "living" mentor through the span of her busy but orderly life. How did she do it all? What was her secret? She put God first; served others and of course took care of herself.

Always have a priority plan. I make a "Goal for the Day Sheet" and usually have six things to do; then I prioritize it. It will give you a purpose; trust me! Happy Monday and may God give you many victories in your prioritizing! It works!

Church Today

My hubby is teaching a series on JOY from the book of Philippians. He's a funny speaker as well as gives good stuff to live on during the week! Very often I invite people to church and I tell them he saying things that make you laugh, so if you are expecting a straight solemn looking serious service, it won't be like that. Soooo with that in mind....come on out yourself and see! W.O.W. Women of Worth is at 9 this morning. I teach that - we're discusing the "Love" subject today in a marriage! Can't wait....C ya there - 10 a.m.

Looking At Makeovers

What's an ambush makeover? It's where some "Today" show on NBC takes a person out of the outdoor's onlookers and brings them in for a makeover. In looking at them, one grandma did look 50 years younger, but the other one looked the same to me. it is weird what hair styles just a little change can make a lady look so different. I recently had a makeover at the Clinique counter for my eyes because I have a new pair of glasses and everyone has commented how much better I look. So maybe they work! I just know it takes a lot of work to keep up the "makeover image" but I have mastered it! a) I love my new glasses and b)taking care of my basic skin care......I think we all need to pay attention to skin care....it shows in our attitude if we don't take care of ourselves and keep up with what helps to make us a healthier, confident lady! It only takes a few extra minutes to feel better by looking good! Every so often I will have a makeover and love it!!!! Have a super Saturday and C ya in church tomorrow....10 a.m.

Do Something Nice for Someone Else

When we share our own niceness or generosity with someone else, it makes us feel like we are thoughtful people. While all acts of kindness are inherently wonderful, rather than diluting the positive feelings by telling someone else, keep it to yourself and you can retain all the positive feelings.

It's really true that one should give for the sake of giving not to receive something in return. I'm always blessed so greatly when I give!

Simple Ways For Small Stuff

Are you dealing with one drama after another? Watch it...after a while you will begin to believe that everything really is a big deal. We fail to recognize that the way we relate to our problems has a lot to do with how quickly and efficiently we solve them. Respond more with ease; problems that seem to be insurmountable will begin to seem more manageable. And even the biggies, things that are truly stressful, won't throw you off track as much as they once did.

When we find strategies that are difficult to "let go" we will learn the two rules of harmony: Don't sweat the small stuff and #2, it's all small stuff! Gently remind yourself life is okay the way it is or change it! In other words, make peace with imperfection......just be grateful....that's simple enough to remember!

Smile Today

I know a lot of people who never smile! That's sad!
So today is declared "Smile" day.

You might cheer someone up.
They may need your smile because things aren't going just right for them.
They need to see a person who is happy......
And.......Smiles are contageous!

You can do it. I know you can. It takes more muscles to frown than to smile.
Show those beautiful flawless teeth and put that smile out there!

My Mamma used to say, "Smile and it will make people wonder what you are up to."
I agree with that!

A Brand New Day!

Who are you serving today? It's a brand new day to serve, love, and get tasks done that will make it a brand new day! I know you can do it! Get focused. Step out of your box and if all you can do today is Love, do it!

Get an official pat on the back for a job well done! That's a great goal! Recently I purchased new eye-wear.....brand spankin' new glasses...they are so cool, but they are so super (non-glare, scratch resistant, triple no line, up to date glasses). Keeping them clean is my goal. So I opted to go to Lenscrafters and ask how to keep them clean. The smudges on them are annoying. And the Mgr. was the only one in there and she actually thanked me for coming in. At first I was timid about saying how do I clean these lenses? When she showed me the correct way, I was amazed that it was so easy. She said she wished more people would come in and it would be preventative and their glasses would last longer. It's amazing how brand new my day is now that I know how to clean them! You'd be surprised at the crud that is floating around in the air and lands on brand NEW lenses! Good job Carol at keeping them spotless now! Have a happy Tuesday!

Husband Is Awesome!

Yesterday at church we changed things a bit. While the incredible guy that does our Welcome Announcements was on a business trip, I had the privilege to fill in for him (although we did show a fabulous welcome video of him that was recorded a couple of weeks ago)....so in filling in for him I discovered visitors do love to be recognized. We had eight new Visitors and they enjoyed saying their name and the welcome turned out incredible! That's what it's all about..............a relaxed atmosphere, a Rock Band that was totally awesome and my husband who knocked the socks off when he gave us a message on "complaining." I think this world has turned into a complaining world.....where's the gratitude and thankfulness? Oh, don't get me started on that!

Since it was my time to be "Chef" - everyone enjoyed the casserole and salad......and the beautiful part is my husband is awesome for the many compliments he has given me. Yea........I love it when I please my hubby....that's what marriage is all about! Going on 42 years I have been his cheerleader and him my confidante. I know I can trust him......yesterday's memories are today's dreams come true - having a great crowd! Thanks Chris, Pappy and TJ!!! (oops and hubby) Grand job! I'm ready for this week to be amazingly incredible! I hope you feel the same!

Special Birthdays

Today is our grandson's birthday! He is 8. He is all boy and just precious! Since we are celebrating this week, I want to wish him a very happy day filled with the joy of things that make him happy! He is so much fun! Happy birthday Bennett!!! With much love and thoughts of you! (& I hope all the candles are blown out and you get your wishes!)

It's also the birthdate of my beloved friend for so many years, Maxine Fessler! She was a widow lady from being married to a Lawyer. Oh boy, did we have some great years her talking about his flaws, great points, behaviors, etc.........She passed away at the lovely age of 83 and was a dear friend to our whole family. We'll pause today and remember her many many stories, loyalty, and friendship! My world was turned upside down by her many many talents!

Tuesday will be my Mamma's birthday. She passed on to Heaven in 1970, but it was like yesterday I was with her. A never forgotten, loving to encourage me (I am the middle child) and of course I miss her drastically! Our daughter is named after her and has her beautiful genes of caring for others! I can't wait to get my scrapbook albumn caught up with the generations of "Mullikin/Fishers." A remarkable lady!

And with that, I'll see you in Church at 10 enjoying the Worship Band that will be performing today! Again, Happy Birthday Grandson Bennett! whoohooooo!!!!

Character Series (#5)

What shall you do?

Does character count? It does if there is a God in glory. A God who helped our founders establish this Nation and has sustained thisNation and brought us this far!

But if America says, "God we don't need You anymore. We don't want Your rule anymore. We know what we are doing. Our skill and ingenuity will see us through." Then I say, God help America!

Build character.....truthfulness, responsibility, initiative, alertness, attentiveness, availability, boldness, cautiousness, compassion, contentment, creativity, dependability, endurance, generosity, forgiveness, gratefulness, hospitality, love, loyalty, obedience, orderliness, patience, punctuality, reverance, and wisdom! In summary, character is the predictor of good behavior; the inward motivation to do what is right when all alone or around anyone!

Remember we have the Worship Band at Lighthouse tomorrow and Q&A at the same time! A great meal will be served! Begins at 10 a.m. C ya.

Character Series (#4)

I hope you can now say Character makes a difference!

We are free to choose, but we are not free to choose the consequences of our choice. First we choose and then the choice chooses for us.

It's a God thing! He rules in the Heavens!

I give you the example of Pharoah, the king in the Bible. He was the great and mighty king of ancient Egypt - living high, wide, and handsome. Pharaoh kept getting bigger and bigger and greater and greater and his approval rating in the Egyptian polls kept going up and up!

But God said, "I am the One who raised you up and I am the One who is going to bring you down." Romans 9 is talking about what happened to Pharoah and his armies when they drowned in the Red Sea. Pharaoh was great, but God was infinitely greater!

He will always reserve control or Himself.

I'm on God's side, aren't you? He can handle bigger things than I ever thought of!

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Character Series (#3)

People with character are absolutely honest.

Proverds 17:7 tells us this.

Liars and leaders are not the same. If a man is a liar, he has a character flaw that goes all the way to the core of his being. People are not liars because they tell lies. They tell lies because they are liars.

A guy or girl is never more like the devil than when they lie....John 8:44 says "Satan is a liar and the father of lies."

Stick always and to the true character of TRUTH and HONESTY!!!! It's a must! Lies begat more lies and pretty soon you won't remember what the truth is! Ask God now to forgive you for lying and begin this second to always tell the truth! That is awesome character!

The Characer of Every Citizen (# 2)

1. Pray for our Government
I Timothy 2:1-3

You say, well, should I pray for my leader isf he's wicked? You should pray the
more for him.

2. Pay for our Government - Romans 13:6-7

3. Praise and participate in our Government. Participate because of your character
and morality in standing for what's right. Right crowds.

Does Character Count? (1 of 5 Series by Carol)

Another word for character is responsibility. A person with character can acccept and carry out responsibility. Let me illustrate. A little baby whose character is not yet developed can be given no responsibilities and so he has no liberty. He doesn't have to clean the house or carry out the garbage. He doesn't get to choose whether he'll have strained beets or puree3d peas for lunch. He has no responsibilities.

But as his character develops, he is given more and more responsibilities. And one day, Dad hands him the keys to the car and says, "I believe that this young adult has developed enough responsibility (enough character) to be given this liberty.")

Let's suppose another teen grows up without a godly influence, begins to act irresponsibly, and breaks the laws of the land. What should happen to him? He should go to prison. Why? Because he acted without character-without respoonsible morals. And now his liberties are taken away. He doesn't have any responsibilities. He doesn't have to turn out the lights, but he also can't unlock the door.

America was founded upon moral character of godly men and women who came to this country for religious freedom. Their character purchased our freedom and we have a responsibility to see that this freedom is upheld as a sacred trust.

Wisdom

The Bible says "If anyone of you lack wisdom, seek God." James 1:5
We need to ASK for wisdom. I'm going to make that a point TODAY.
Are you?

We taught our kids "Character is one you do when NO ONE else is around."
And it's the truth...........oh, this gives trust, wisdom, confidence!
Wow! Happy Monday! I'm short on words today, but just know wisdom will come to
you as you seek it!

Friday & Saturday

Yesterday was cold, rainy day....so I got caught up on reading MAD CHURCH DISEASE book by my beloved friend, Anne Jackson. It's talking about the epidemic of burnout. Awesome! There's a lot of pain to go through the healing of burnout. I'll take that journey. When the path is negative; it needs to be dissected and come to an assurance it doesn't have to stay that way!

Plus, for our Friday night date night, we had a "Christmas" sort of dinner....ooooo awesome! Baked chicken, delicious salad, baked potato and pumpkin pie with whipped cream! Ymmmy!!! Delicious! Cooked at home and it smelled delicious and tasted delicious! Even Pixie our dog ate her dogfood at the same time we had a lovely dinner.

Did you see on Oprah she is opening up her own Facebook? Whoa! That sure will be interesting!

Today ....remember to allow the wisdom and study of the Bible or a scholarly author to enlighten your understanding of God's wisdom. This is one simple way to seek and search for wisdom and an answer to your issues. See ya in church tomorrow 10 a.m. Series "Joy" by my hubby.

Just For Today

Well, what will it be? Do you desire a life distinguished by wisdom...or the opposite, one marked and marred by foolishness? I think I know the answer. So begin now forming daily habits that will help us become God's women of wisdom!

Read the chapter of the book of Proverbs that corresponds with the date of this month.

Pick the one verse that most spoke to your heart and your life.

Put it on a 3 X 5 card. Carry it with you all day.

Ask yourself, do I consider God's wisdom to be more valuable than silver and gold?

Me ......some random super thoughts

I'm an idealist - I see the world as bright and beautiful!

How about you?

Get in the Word....it will tell us so great things. We have a God who is a warrior. Hold up the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit. Love your enemies! Don't turn someone against God....turn them to Him. But don't push; sometimes I wonder if a person thinks about trusting God, they might turn out like us......so be on the lookout regarding your being "real" -- people see through your phoniness.

I'm also a grateful and rejoicing person over the great of things daily. I've noticed some people are just "Information Gatherers" so they can feel power. Not me; I am a trusted human being who wants the happiness for my family and then others. Plus I love blogging. And I thank our Son a zillion times for setting it up for me.

My brain is taxed today as yesterday I received 38 e-mails and of course, I didn't answer all of them, nor will I today. And the people who sent them will not be offended. Soooooooo have fun today and lighten your load so you may get a chance to see the world today as bright and beautiful! (Just once!!!!)

Amazing, hu?

Be Happy!

Remembering.....God can make you so happy! Read the book of Proverbs - that's my encouragement to you TODAY!!!!! God will see you through. Do not depend on your own strength - fully rely on Him! It WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY! And don't let ANYONE steale your JOY!!!!!

Appreciation For Sure!

Thank you, thank you, thank you............everyone who checked on me last week! Very much appreciated - the ladies of Lighthouse Chourch outdid themselves as they either took me to dinner or lunch. My hubby had a fabulous trip to see our adorable daughter and I had a great week of catching up on housework, fellowship, and also with our doggies. It's wonderful to know they care and I appreciate it for sure!

C ya in church - 10 a.m. time change (today - remember)))))) I can't wait to see how quick it gets daylight! : )

Learning What's Important

Learn to be more effective.

Proverbs 31:10-31

When I read bout this lady's life, her time, her wisdom, I have often asked myself, "How did this lady get it all done?" Well, in a word, she got it all done because she was effective. Someone might say she was efficient. True, this lady did all her tasks well. That's what efficient means - doing tasks well. But more importantly, this lady did the right things well and fair. That's effectiveness!

Prioritize - pinpoint those areas where you can be more effective (efficient) and go for it!

Evaluate Your Day At Day's End

What did you choose to do that could have been eliminated?

Identify the "time bandits" that robbed you of a precious day of life!

Have a journal; write your answers down....in red ink!

Use your time and your life for Him....praying, encouraging, caring, loving, etc....
(I'm still in the book of Proverbs)....oh, so refreshing!!!!

What Do You Need Help With?

One lady told me "Diligence" - it's right in Proverbs! Proverbs 10:4 and all through chapter 31. It makes us wise women! Diligence rises while it is yet night...girds herself with strength (Prov. 31:17) does not eat the bread of idleness (vs. 27) - therefore, ....her husband has no lack of gain (vs. 11); she provides food for her household vs. 15. The reward is "HEr children rise and call her blessed. (vs. 28). and the greatest her husband praises her. "Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all" (vs. 28-29). Try diligence! (From the book of Proverbs) - it works!!!!

An Example Yesterday's Blogs

I'm still in Proverbs for the answers. I want answers! Teach me patience, Lord!

Proverbs 8:1-3 "Does not wisdom cry out, and understanding life up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, beside the way; where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the City."

As I reflect on the verses above, I would like to have wisdom and understanding. Then I must embrace discipline as an essential and necessary element of my growth toward wisdom and understanding. Why? Because I cannot lead ladies down a path of righteousness and discipline if I have not personally taken it. Others are watching my discipline and listening to my "voice." Discipline is my learning from Prov. 8:1-3. (An example of yesterday's blogs.) Have a happy Tuesday! and remember....

Never lose one moment of time, but improve it in the most profitable way possible.

Posting for Geneva's Comment

Good Afternoon!
For some unbeknown reason my blog is not accepting a comment to Geneva's comment.
So here is my comment to her question. (Please look in "1 comment). thx.

Geneva:
Great comment. I can only surmise you are getting giggly because Pastor Jim is speaking each week on a series of "JOY" so maybe your joy button is being pushed...
The treasure of God's Word. The Bible comes from God. .... of course and is "given by inspiration of God" II Timothy 3:16 - every word of it. There are no fads and no gimmicks in the Bible. What you read between the covers of your Bible is wisdom for a lifetime and rock-solid, forever truth, truth you can stand on, live by, and trust.....forever!
Unearthing the Treasure of God's Wisdom (# 1 & 2 of my) stage of Bible reading:
1. Read it Start anywhere. And I would suggest not making your Bible reading time an ordeal. Just get your cup of coffee, or tea, sit down, open your Bible and read.....beginning with Proverbs. Expose yourself to God's wisdom every day by reading the chapter of Proverbs that corresponds with the date of the month. Devour it! David wrote that God's Word was "sweeter than honey and the honeycomb" - (Psalm 19:10). Jeremiah testified, "Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart." (Jeremiah 15:16) As you devour God's Word, you'll taste His refreshment of the peaches and cream stages.......it is consumed with passion and pleasure!

I know you will have this same delicious addiction, love and passion for the Bible. I want it for you because God's Word is so exciting, so electric, so energizing - in a word...thrilling. I know you are a superb note taker because I see you each Sunday brilliantly writing evey word. What I do is have a small notebook when I read the Bible and jot my own notes...that's where peaches and cream stage comes in for me! We are all so different. You'll find a way that I would never think of.
Blessings to you. It is awesome to hear someone takes on the challenge of reading the Bible. I'm so excited for you. Thanks again for the comment!

A Voice Says......

"I need help with my Bible...."

I don't know how passionately you feel about your Bible, but I can tell you that I consider my Bible to be my life!

Three Stages of Bible Reading
Stage 1 - the cod liver oil stage when you take it like medicine.
Stage 2 - The shredded wheat stage when it's nourishing but dry.
Stage 3 - The peaches and cream stage when it is consumed with passion and pleasure.

The Bible is life changing! Proverbs is so great! I love to read Ephesians. It comes directly from God - the Bible is my inspiration. What I read between the covers of my Bible is wisdom for a lifetime and rock-solid, forever truth, truth you can stand on, live by, and trust.....forever!

In The Still Of The Night

Is it still night? Or is it full-blossomed morning at 4 a.m.? I know one thing for sure. It's so quiet, one could hear a pin drop....clocks ticking, cars rumbling by, sirens, heat coming off and on - it's still quiet.

Guess I'm up early to enjoy the great time my hubby and I had on our "Friday Night Date Night." We ended up at a Restaurant on the other side of town - home cookin' where all the elder Saints go! Actually we looked like teenagers compared to them. Some had walkers, canes, and just plain ole' help in gettin' around! They have a delicious salad bar and of course I can only eat the Senior plate which consist of ONE small piece of fried catfish, 2 veggies and a couple of hush puppies. It's called the "Lite" plate. So, my hubby saw that all the "elderly" people got bananna puddin' and whip cream, so he had some. Then I decided I wanted a piece of coconut creme pie which literally melts in my mouth (jez like my Mamma used to make). We were both stuffed, so she put my pie in a take home. Of course, I had eaten a couple of bites, but (yep, you guessed it) forgot it! My hubby went back in and they had already cleaned the table off! That place is packed on Friday night! But the staff is so efficient; of course they clean up quickly!

Have you ever gone to bed on a full tummy of the above? Well, you just sleep until you can't sleep anymore....thus up at 4 a.m. Everyone that knows me says well, that's an every day occurance, isn't it Carol? Not really, but I'm getting a reputation of being an early bird and I feel like I'm the only one in this town that enjoys (it's the truth!) early mornings!!!!!! I think this may become a habit. If you're up, you'll understand it; it not I'll keep understanding why you can stay up and I see some of your e-mails that says way past midnight.

Let's just all enjoy each other no matter what their sleep cycle is.......coffee is fabulous......reading is fabulous......if I decide to make homemade cards, it's marvelous.....I'm on my own......In the Still of the Night????? Or is it Morning???? C ya in church tomorrow....10 a.m. : )

Blessings!

To you, what are blessings? I had a person send me a thank you note that signed off Blessings, Donna. That started my mind to start thinking.....Each day when I wake up, I can hardly believe how blessed I am. Just think, the gift of a day, a whole, entire, precious and priceless day! But I remind myself - it's not my day. Oh no. It's God's day! And I am a steward of it. So I sit down with my trusty calendar and planner in hand and ask, "Lord, how do you want me to live this day? What is it that You want me to do with this one day that You have given me?" "What is the work You want me to accomplish today?" Living each day for God's blessings. Blessings are happy things that come my way and I know that if I focus on Him and truly appreciate these blessings (happiness) that He has entrusted to me, it will be a wise walk with Him.

Friday ties up His blessings for me. Prepares me for Saturday when I do Outreach and then I can look ahead to His many blessings that He bestows upon me. I pray that you will be blessed as you read this. My favorite encouragement is BE BLESSED!

True beauty

....is only enhanced by spiritual growth. We learn that II Cor. 4:16 says "our outward man is perishing" - what you should be witnessing is a beautiful inner life radiating outward.

Happy Thursday!

This Might Sound A Bit Old Fashioned

What's a lady to Wear?

How does a lady discern the sometimes fine line between proper dress and dressing to be the center o attention? The answer starts in the intent of the heart. A lady should examine her motives and goals for the way she dresses. This might sound a bit old fashioned, but is her intent to show her love and devotion to her husband and his goodness to her? Is it to reveal a humble heart devoted to worshiping God? Or is it to call attention to herself and flaunt her wealth and attempt to allure men sexually?

I believe a lady who focuses on worshiping God wil consider carefully how she is dressed, because her heart will dictate her wardrobe and appearance. If you have to question whether it's too low in the front, I'm sure it is. But the biggest question I help women, ladies and girls with, is "Do you think my blouse is too revealing?" And honestly, I'm not afraid to say an honest "Yes." Why purposely cause a man to stumble in the area of lust? That's my question to them. Please know I am not judging; but it is my sincere prayer that we all will have convictions in the area of revealing too much. Dressing with moderation also refers to self-control I Timothy 2:9. 'Nuff said.

Spiritual Growth

The greatest hindrance to our spiritual development - the whole hindrance - is that we allow our passions and desires to control us, and we do not strive to walk in the perfect way of the Saints. When we meet the least adversity, we are too quickly dejected and we turn to other people for comfort instead of to God.

Little things come daily, hourly within our reach, and they are not less calculated to set forward our growth in spiritual blessings than are the greater occasions.

Has any Mentor left their her fingerprints on your soul to exhort, inspire, admonish, encourage for spiritual development? Stick close, ladies, that's the friend you want to have. "Older women" have such a great effect (Titus 2:3-5.) I call it live and learn for our spiritual growth.

Oscars.........random thoughts

Did you watch 'em?

Naturally I fell asleep half-way through.......but I am up early indeed to see who won and check the "red carpet" and what kind of gowns were worn! It never ceases to amaze me that the one shoulder type gowns would be popular this year. It just proves to me society dictates! You may disagree with me....but who wants to be a part of the ugliest dressed. I wouldn't want to.

I kinda thought Meryl Streep would have gotten BEST ACTRESS. But I was glad Penelope Cruz got an award. After having a baby and going right back in to work...ugh!!! I'm a Dustin Hoffman fan - I'll never forget the movie "Rainman" that he stared in.

How about you? Did you watch it? 'jez curious. Have a happy Monday and a very happy birthday Geneva and Angie (twins...but Angie was born first).....to me being twins would be "stars" to a Mom...........and you all would deserve an Academy Award...........so y'all live it up on your big day!!! (Live it up this year 'cause next year is the big 40!!!! (awe - it's not that bad!!!!)

Wisdom Regarding Time

Straight from the Holy Bible - Solomon's Wise Observations on Time
There is a right time for everything;
A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, a time to harvest;
a time to kill; a time to heal;
a time to destroy; a time to rebuild;
a time to grieve, a time to dance;
a time for scattering stones, a time for gathering stones;
a time to find, a time to lose;
a time for keeping, a time for throwing away;
a time to tear, a time to repair;
a time to be quiet; a time to speak up;
a time for loving; a time for hating;
a time for war, a time for peace.
ECCLESIASTES 3:1-8

Beauty Treatment!

How? Reading God's inspired Word! It causes us to grow in Christlikeness! God's Word is alive and powerful, and it works on what's inside, on the heart (Heb. 4:12) As you and I read the Bible, we learn God's truth, identify wrong behavior, mend our ways, and receive positive training in righteousness. (II Tim. 3:16) In other words, the Bible works us over from the inside out! It gives us a complete spiritual makeover and performs open heart surgery at the same time. : )

When I read my Bible, it penetrates my heart and lifts my soul. It causes me to desire that God desires, to think more like He things, and to pursue what He wants me to have. When my reading time is over, I find my mind at rest, my heart at peace, my head clear, and a direction and purpose for my day! I hope the same may be true for you as we have a beauty treatment.

Phenomenal Speaker!

Last night I heard a phenomenal speaker (A Pastor's Wife) of the world's largest church which is in Austrailia speak! She was so motivating and made me realize we have so many tasks left undone of winning the lost to the Lord. I know my heart was touched and I want to share with whomever I come in contact with how that as Christians we are the church; the church is not us....and when we begin to show the true, real love of the Lord and what He has done for us; we're losing out! It's not our place to judge another person's motives....we just need to pray God's grace and mercy on them and ourselves as we attempt to serve and bring others in!

Too many people are numbed out to the feeling of even getting up on Sunday to get ready to attend church, but have ruled it out completely in their life. Yesterday I was talking to a Security Guard at a store and she said she has gotten away of attending church and once she got out of the habit, it became easier and easier. It's up to us as Christ-in-ones to be real about what it feels like to go to a church where the Pastor teaches the WORD. That's the important thing...I confess - I don't pick up my Bible and study it like I should....hence, my husband who delivers a great message on Sunday...that's where I go to hear him because I know He will show the holy scripture right in front of my face and I will get the word whether I want to hear it or not! C you there. Sunday....10 a.m. Have a happy Thursday and be blessed with God's mercy and grace on you!!!!

Ways to Simplify Your Life

Number one complaint I hear from women: "My house is a wreck and I don't want to do anything about it." Why not? I had the privilege of having my husband's Grandmother for a Teacher at the Bible College I graduated from. Who would ever believe I would marry her Grandson? So, when he and I have great conversations, he always compliments me for having great organization skills, he is so grateful. His Grandmother taught me that "when you get married, keep a tidy home to support you and your husband." I'll never forget that and I truly believe that is why our marriage is so happy. And even after we were married, Grandma reminded me that she was glad I was an organized homemaker because she remembered her grandson having a converstation with her as he was growing up that he had hoping he would marry someone who wasn't a total neat freak, but at least considered that he likes it neat. And on top of that he was in the military where they had to keep the barracks neat.....the fact that I got demerits when I was in the Dormitory where his Grandmother was Dean of Women.....I wanted to please her and have a neat room so that I wouldn't get demerits.

It will surely simplify your life if you will have your home in support of your daily living. I tell the ladies they will live a life on a whole new level. Not only will they be happy, but everyone will be happy. My Mom used to say "Everything in it's place and a place for everything." It's amazing what we learn as women from our precious Mom and Grandmothers. I can remember my Grandmother was so organized, she had a specific place in a neat pile for chiclet gum that she always gave me and if I took that gum without her giving it to me, she knew I got into it by how neat it was stacked and now messed up.

Soon I will be having a garage sale....I'm already thinking about which (one room only) I want to pile the stuff I want to set out to sale. I think my husband would compliment me for the neatness just so he won't trip over my "stuff." Have a great Wednesday!

Deuteronomy 32:4

"He is the ROCK, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He."

That sums it up and wow what a promise! In this day of undeciviseness, we need to rely on Deuteronomy 32:4 and never forget it! I see so many hurting people and I tell them to rely on God's Word and He is the ROCK! I'm telling you - it works! Never give up on God's Word.............that's my source of comfort, guidance and hope!

When the storms of life beset you, turn to this Scripture....I beg of you....I can promise you it works!

This is the day - February 14th - the best!

I would love to gather my entire family together on this day - February 14th - the best day of the year! Showing love, respect, and warmth to a family that gives it also! I'm a very loving person and don't mind being vocal about it when I see them to say "I love you." Not just Valentine's Day but other days as well.

As the song says "Spread a little love around......" Ladies, don't EXPECT things; be grateful that you have a husband that provides for you, works hard to make ends meet (that's an old Oklahoma phrase) but be thankful for him and his love.

I'm praising God, the Father, for the way His love shines on me and on all of humankind. It is wonderful how He created everything and regulates it all. Great are His works. Great is His love, O Father! Thank you for loving me just the way I am. I'm just an ordinary person who wants to serve.

You not only show me how to care for the lovely but for those who aren't so lovable. Thank you for reminding me, Lord, to love those closest to me, to cherish and treasure them and not take them for granted. I can speak with eloquence and pass out all sorts of good advice. Still, I must have a true, sincere love! And with that, have a happy Valentine's day all day!

Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love

My encouragement to you today is just spread LOVE wherever you go!
You will be spreading the greatest cheer in the world; not to mention the fact that all the kiddos that eat sweets today will be spreading love. That's what Valentine's Day is all about! YEA......I truly love Valentine's Day!!!

So.....have a loving Valentine's day and a happy one!

Lovingkindness

This word is put together in the KJV (King James Verson) of the Bible and this is the way the scripture reads:

"Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are the great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast. How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!" Psalm 36:5-7

Lovingkindness.....I would love to live up to that word. That would take a lot of soul searching, discipline, and plain ole' work! How precious is His lovingkindness! If we as Christians (Christ-in-One) would live like a Christian should and be an encouraging word to those who are in need.....what a great challenge as well as a testimony. May you know our precious Lord looks on you with lovingkindness....how fabulous is that!!!!

Receive Love

This day....ask God to let you receive all ways love is shown to you. Look on the positive side of love and show some love and encouragement yourself.

It's a great way to live! ...er LOVE!

Hummingbirds

Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, and every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life's sweetest creation.

Work on relationships. As you reach out, the other will reach out. You may have to be the one that starts the initial connection, but please keep our world a caring world. I know I am! I am grateful for God's blessings and abundance! (& Hummingbirds)

Grammy Awards

I love to watch the Grammy's. I did fall asleep though and am up this morning trying to find out who won. I've always been motivated by awards or trophies given. There's a lot of practicing going in on winning those awards and I commend all singers and instrumentalists! Our kids grew up playing instruments and I loved it! Now, I'm sure Mom's and Dad's are elated on (still) their son or daughter winning such grand awards for the world to see.

I like the 50's and 60's music I grew up with as a teenager, so nothing can take their place, but I'm amazed at the tremendous talent and entertainment given on the stage just to get the song accomplished. Lights flashing, lots and lots of teamwork to finish with such a grammy!

You're never to old to enjoy someone else's talent......starts my week off grand as the week is finished with love, love, love, Valentine's Day 2009! Have a happy week!

I Love The Bible

In the Bible are truths that took me years to discover.....
God's love is deep and unconditional
His peace can replace all fears
Healing is God's will
He is worthy of praise

The treasures found in the Bible are more precious than diamonds and rubies. Hope is priceless.

In the Bible we can find God's Love, peace, Healing and Praise.....come on out to Lighthouse Church today and realize His love, peace, joy and more love! C ya there.

Valentine's Day is Fast Approaching!!!

What to get? Make a card? Get roses? Buy a DVD?

"Love makes the world go round....." Begin now thinking of what to get your honey lamb....I call mine hubby or hubs. As I'm around different friends, I pick up their lango and Anne, my friend calls her hubby hubs. I think that's cute! Remember: Ya gotta keep those home fires burnin' or they'll fade out!!! And that's my encouraging thoughts for Saturday.

I need to get my Outreach list out and get this day going!!!!

C ya tomorrow - 10 a.m. "Hymn Sunday Day!!!"

People Cooler Than Me

Yesterday some friends of our's (they've been married 48 years) took my hubs and I to a neat Chinese Restaurant............awesome! What a very thoughtful thing to do...we've had a drastic week, so it seemed to take the load off, just fellowshipping!! They have seven up on us in the marriage category...but knowing they are cool friends makes us so grateful! And we are blessed! Knowing that people care and on top of that show it!

I hope your Friday is eventful! ....and happy! Here's an encouraging thought: Don't sweat the small stuff. Be grateful for even the smallest kindness someone shows to you....and on the reverse be kind yourself. Make someone's day! I'm up being very thankful! : )

God's Medicine

Psalm 139:1-8
O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.....Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up in the Heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

That's consoling. How about people that call theirself a Christian and are so phoney; they swear, they act like the furtherest thing of being involved in Christianity; in fact they won't even say they are associated with a Church. Me, I would rather invite a person to church to learn about being REAL....but then, what
if someone decides to judge and condemn them? I think I had better get off this subject. Just know, God is every-where and knows our hearts. Have a happy Thursday as we all fully rely on God's medicine! It's the best!

Someone to Love

Remember the old saying, "An apple a day keeps the Dr. away?" The love equivalent might read, "Thinking of someone to love each day keeps your resentment away." Istart just about every day consciously choosing to think of people to love when I realized how often I could get caught up in thinking about the opposite, people who irritate me. It causes my mind to focus on n-e-g-a-t-i-v-i-t-y....ugh!

So now every morning when I wake up, I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths...then ask the question, "Who shall I send love to today."

I hope you have a wonderful day filled with loving kindness. I know you will find your day more peaceful. Try it, you'll "love" it!

Band was Phenomenal!

The lead singer was phenomenal as well as the guitar players! (Superb!!!) He sang a song he wrote out of despair...unbelievable! We had tons of visitors and a super great service! People stood around afterwards just conversing....I love to see that! It was fabulous. Thanks everyone for coming. All I can say is I appreciate you and everyone else that were so encouraging to me because it was the first in all the history of Lighthouse Church that I had a Sunday off!!!! Cool!

I hope your week is fantastic and full of many, many blessings. Here's some encouraging words.

God is asking each one of us to think bette of ourself and to act accordingly!
Have a big dream for your life and trust in His Word! Do not allow stress to steale your joy!

Lighten Up!

My thoughts today are that the world is getting uptight! Lighten up - enjoy life and have some fun. Yesterday I watched a Christian Comedian on Channel 2. I practically rolled in the floor laughing so hard! He was imitating how people in church respond to the Pastor's message.........I can honestly say, most of his faces are what I see also on Sunday. I'm definitely going to get one of his DVD's and remind myself to laugh! How about you? Have you had a day of laughter? Try it, you'll love it!!! How bout a movie by Jerry Lewis...there's an older he has out on "What to do until the Psychiatrist comes?" It is hilarious!!!! You have to turn it off to catch your breath!!!!! I would say these are definitely encouraging thoughts. Bottom Line: Have fun today!

Music

What role does music have in worship?

David (the Psalmist) saw music as a required FORM of worship. Throughout Scripture, music was used in worshiping the Lord.

I love Isaiah 51:11 - "Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return to Jerusalem, singing songs of everlasting JOY. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be overcome with joy and gladness."

C ya Sunday at Lighthouse Church. We have a new "Worship Rock" band!
A place where everyone is welcome, nobody is perfect and anything is possible.

Motives

Does God care about our motives?
I Chronicles 29:17 "I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously."

Have right desires.
Have God put a new spirit in you.
Have him take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart.

Get focused on the right motives. Please don't cause a ruckus.......take a long hard look at your motives and inward with just the Lord helping you through the wrong things you are doing.

Honor Your Self

with........ACCEPTANCE
Acceptance is receiving without criticism or judgment. To embrace the fullness of a situation or experience.....an inner realization that all is well, regardless of the outward expression.

You do not have to like what is going on in your life, but you must accept that it, whatever it is, is going on. As long as you do not accept reality, you are powerless to define what you do. Failure to accept reality is a denial of your power to make a conscious choice. It makes you a victim of circumstances.

Acceptance is simply recognition. It's also the respect for one's self and others. You must accept that what you want to do may not be an easy task, which means you must be patient with yourself. Be patient when you get angry or afraid.

ACCEPT your right to know joy, peace, love, give love, and receive love.

For this I am grateful for ACCEPTANCE is a sign of courage and empowers me to make a conscious choice.

ACCEPTANCE (ah I love this!) requires that I trust myself and mostly God and His promises. Have a great Tuesday!!!!

Anne Jackson

My blogger & facebook friend, Anne Jackson (which will become a household name) to all of us in the full-time ministry......will be at Bent Tree Fellowship Church tomorrow Jan. 27th for a book signing......her book is OUT! called "Mad Church Disease" - she is a Pastor's daughter who has written about the ugly word BURNOUT which all of us have experienced if you've been in the ministry a long time.

I have her on my agenda. She lives in Nashville, TN now but is starting a tour of Book Signings for her new book. I'm so excited about going. This is going to be a very busy week for all of us. Hope the weather holds out.......she's awesome. Go to her blog: www.flowerdust.net (I hope I've done that right...hmmmm) Pray for her - she has a lot of traveling to do, but knows what she's writing about....so have a great Monday and I encourage you to pray for all of us in full-time ministry as we serve.

Have a happy Monday. It's a sad day because I'll miss the trees........the Owner of the Building has had to have the trees taken out in front of our Church building because the Architect came and they are causing a hazard to the crack in the building from the roots.............It will be as soon as daylight arrives....one thing for sure you will definitely see that a church is there!!!! As you park there, your car will be free of bird droppings (yea!!!!) but I promise those trees will be missed!!!! But watch in your mail this week......we are changing, changing, changing....so look for the new Lighthosue Church relevancy!!!!!

Communication is my love!

Of course, every Mom in the world thinks this: Talking to all our kids makes us the happiest person on this Planet! Yesterday I had the awesome opportunity to talk with our daughter: #1 - she is such a marvelous listener #2 My loving to communicate and enjoying her comments makes me feel so good. I say that word with all gratitude because it was a 2-way conversation. It's a Love that won't walk away, I promise. Mutual trust.

Most of us will never be stranded on an island. We will never know that kind of desertion and "aloneness." But many of us have felt that alone and deserted. But when we can connect with one or all of our kids we can (or at least I can only speak for myself) will hold Deuteronomy 3:16 close at heart, "The Lord your God will go with you, He will not leave you or forget you."

C ya in Church. My husband is continuing on the series "JOY" in Philippians. : )

Cool Beans!!!!!!

I'm tickled pink that I'm up early! Got my first cup of coffee and our dishes are ruby red. This cup was definitely red but different! (I'm so observant!!!) So, here's what it is. My adorable husband got me a new coffee cup from (hello!!!) Starbuck's!!!! And it is awesome! It has class to it!!! It's snazzy looking and I love it!!! I figured that one out immediately by the first sip of coffee. Now that I'm up at the crack of dawn......I have to be patient (which is not one of my virtues!!!) to thank him. How thoughtful and loving!!!

I love the cup! I have the best hubby in the world!!! It's me...for sure! Whew! The home fires just keep on burnin'!!! I hope your hubby does something for you or better yet, you for him...................honey, thanks! You're a doll for this one!

Enjoy your Saturday..........some have called about the time for the "Work Day @ Church" - 10 a.m. Refreshments served so don't buy breakfast....come and feast on the best donuts in America!!!!!! I promise!

Paper Trails

I love to follow paper trails. To so many other people, they would say that's stressful. I will look and look until I always look in the last place and there it is! Why is that so? I have no idea, other than God must be teaching me patience, one of my "fruit of the spirit" lackings!

Do you ever get the feeling that if you throw a file away, it might have just that paper piece you are looking for? Oh, I do. I open the closet or file cabineet where the files are "put away" and go through the files, only to find it! Now, why I did not look at that in the first place, who knows, but it's always a relief when it is found!

Hey everyone.....wait until you somewhat older in age and see all the paper accumulated. ....which you may need.
......which you more than likely will not need.

Have a few tough trash bags to not even give it a thought.....THROW AWAY when the Trash Pickup Trucks come on the proper day! Keep up with keeping organized. Throw away papers you know you do not need or will ever need. And just tell yourself if it's not there in that one storage box, it is gone forever! just a few random thoughts on paper trails. Hope your Friday goes well and happy!

Stay Close to Scripture

When in a dilemna, stay close to the Lord and His word! That is all you can trust!!! I was serving in "Outreach" yesterday and had a lady tell me "Rely on the newest "How To" books..............Hello....I don't think so! 'Nuff said!

Have a super Thursday!

Trust in the Lord!

I talk to women and they say "Oh, I trust in the Lord, but still need to worry." When you stop to think of that....it's hypocritical ....why trust in the Lord when you are going to worry anyway? Doesn't make sense. If and when you finally do trust in the Lord; leave it alone and see Him work. That's the fun of being a Christ follower; watching Him work it out and we don't have to struggle and have chaos! My question is: Is your life chaotic? Proverbs says "Trust in the Lord with ALL YOUR MIGHT, and lean not into your OWN understanding. Acknowledge Him, and HE will direct your path." I promise....His promises are true and work!!!! God is good to let us fully rely on Him!

Expectations

A friend of mine has authored a book, "Mad Church Disease" - it's awesome!
I never cease to be amazed at the anger to us because we don't immediately do what is expected for us to do or say. They expect me to get my husband to obey what they want him to do. There's a sizzling in the request; and they get literally mad (there's that Mad Church Disease popping its ugly head) because they don't get their way. It turns into a bit of drama, thus causing "I'm right, you're wrong." God is not pleased with that drama for sure. I feel like sending up a prayer immediately to God to love that person (or persons) more because of the expectations. He is so forgiving and loving. I Cor. 13:3

My husband and I have learned after all these years to prioritize between someone pressuring "their way" or "manipulating" the action. It is my sincere prayer that expectations pass quickly and an attitude of patience will be forthcoming.

At any rate, today is a big day in history! Enjoy your day as we witness our 44th President being sworn in!!! God bless you this day!

Homemade Pizza

We decided on our Friday night date night to have homemade pizza. Tasted good, but here I am up early - indi-gestion!!!!! Doesn't cause for complete night's sleep. Oh well, had some writing to do in my prayer journal, so I can get caught up before we head out to church to get things done for tomorrow!

By the way, bring someone to church tomorrow. I've done some Outreach this week and am bringing at least 6!!! Yea!!!!!!!!!!!! for God on that one!!!

We will be having Q&A and mexican cuisine....my very favorite..........come on out and join us!! C ya there.

Keep Your Chin Up!

Has today been one of those days?

I'll encourage you to KEEP YOUR CHIN UP....don't mean to yell it, but it's
good to tell yourself that.

No looking back.

Keep your heart, soul, and loving spirit close to the Lord and to friends who
really support and want what's best for you.

I want you to know any and all encouragement comes solely from God as you know,
but relax and have a great evening thinking about the many great things God has done for you and how much He loves you. My husband has given me about eight compliments on my hair and make-up today; I'm encouraged and love him noticing.
His Administrator at the Church e-mailed me and said she is praying for me. That I needed and appreciate both of them watching out (well, plus our beloved daughter who always says marvelous things to me).....and then so many people I was able to help today seemed so grateful.

For those I WILL keep my chin up and praise God for His miracle ways!!!!! C ya in church Sunday..........yea!!!

Turned out pretty good!

It turned out to be a pretty good "Carol Day" I appreciate your comment, Geneva, because you know I teach the ladies....do something to make it a good day for yourself........and it's not selfish to do it; in fact, it makes self-less work better because your mind gets on caring more especially when that's the profession.

It was especially fun, when one of the ladies of the church wanted to have lunch with me..........so....didn't mind at all!

Today I got a wee bit early; okay, how it happened I do know. The coffee pot is set to go off at 5 a.m., but it went off at 3 a.m. so thinking it was 5-ish, I got up..........did I go back to bed? Eventually. It smelled so good and the aroma drove me to drink a fresh cup. Naturally the caffeine took over, so I decided to catch up on e-mails, etc. I'm good to go today and I hope your day is awesome!

Once I have a goof off day, it's hard to get to my Bible study. And since it's on Proverbs, here's a great scripture. Prov. 8:17, 18, 21 KJV: "Those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honor are with me; yes, durable riches and righteousness....that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures." Let that one soak in. I know I will!

"Carol Day"

I'm having a "Carol Day" ------ time off for S-E-L-F......woohoo!!!

Prayer

I truly think the most encouragement of 2009 is prayer. When you know you've been prayed for, it feels better and you know it's all in the hands of God and there's no worry. Yesterday I had the privilege of going to church and someone had asked me to pray for them. There was a load lifted as I prayed and at the same time prayed for our family, church, friends, etc. The Bible says "The effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much." In getting feedback, yes, prayer did work and always gives a peace and contentment. That's one of my encouraging comments is to pray. He is there, just spend some time with Him and leave the burdens. Ps. 68:19 says "I have a life daily loaded with the benefits of the Lord. Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads me with benefits." Plainly said, I'm trusting Him to answer prayers and as I journal them daily, I know everything will work out. How about you? What's your number one priority? Is it prayer?

Best Medicine

Best Medicine is a cheerful heart. Who wants a down-in-outer around them all the time? I love laughter, jokes, and having fun! It all fits in together. There really are people who love to have fun. Make it a good day. Find others who cheer you up and care about you. It is definitely the best medicine! Hope your week begins happy and ends happy!

Sunday the best Day of the Week!

Today W.O.W. (Women of Worth) class which I teach at our church gets promoted to the best room in the entire church! Are we glad? You bet. It's a lady-like room; very comfy.....come on out to the meeting and I'll let you in on a great surprise on how we got this room!!!! Yea...... We deserve it! See you there. 9 a.m. Ugh - I know that's early, but it's worth every wink eye being lost!

Blessings!

Strength

I've changed my ways since we just went through a period of having a viral infection. (we meaning my hubby and I). I've been studying the Bible more for strength in daily tasks. Here's a great one. "I am strong in the Lord and the power of His might." Eph. 6:10 woohoo.....I could never make it without Him! Ladies - remember tomorrow 9 a.m. W.O.W. class - "Women of Worth" - Great subject! C you there!

I Cor. 15:14

"Love in my life never fails."
I can remember our Granddaughter when she first said "I wuv you." When you stop to think of it - first beginning to talk and getting the tongue around and up to say "l" would be "w" half way! Anyway, it's spelled or said, I lOVE hearing it! And if we all told the truth, we are all inclusive have a need to be told we are loved! What a very nice, caring thought!

New Year Part II

I've been thinking about the New Year....
a chance to begin anew.........
and that I am doing..............it works real well because I came down with the "crud" right after Christmas up until New Year's........So health wise, I'm making some changes also. How about people who DO NOT have a New Year's Resolution? That concerns me..........I have to have goals. I have to have a "Starting Over" and then I can give a double check on trust issues with relationships. Okay that's another story.
Have a Happy Thursday!

Happy 2009!

There's that word again....happy....happy also means "blessed" in the Bible. It's a word I've heard used a lot over the Christmas and New Year's Holidays! (Meaning the "Blessed" word. I'm guessing they are distinguishing between being a Christian or not. Happy New Year would be presented by most people. But, while I was getting some postage stamps and had to take a trip to Wally-World and sat by the Greeter - most people came through and said "Be blessed." I can dig it! Can't you? The lady employee at the counter in the P.O. that waited on me for the stamps thought I was purchasing the stamps to send my Christmas cards...hello....yesterday!!! I'm too efficient - mine were sent around the first week in December. Anyway, she let me know in any uncertain terms that SHE DID NOT send Christmas cards because she was celebrating the birth of Christ. To each his own...but to me the giving of the cards and sharing love with family and friends is my choice. Whether they send me one or not, I know I did my part in the love I have.

I hope your day is filled with truth and love! I'm back at blogging and boy do I love it!!!!

Children: A High Pursuit

Highlighting the value of children......hopefully this will be a blessing and encouragement to you today, dear Parent (or Grandparent). The Bible is full of expressions of God's care and concern for the young and vulnerable. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."

Unfortunately, this perspective is becoming increasingly foreign to our modern world, where children are often seen as a burden and a drain. What could possibly be more rewarding than raising an impressionable young child in the love of the Lord? Is there anything more important than being able to answer questions such as "Why is the sky blue?" or "Who is God?" for the little ones entrusted in our care. It brings us comfort and joy as parents or grandparents to enjoy limitness opportunities with them! It produces loving relationships and a grateful heart for seeing them learn that fulfillment is found - in selfless service and a grateful heart! Yes, they are a high pursuit! Never take them for granted.

Christmas Trees

In the daily walks, etc..namely Mall Walking....looking at the various Christmas Trees in Stores is breathtaking! Especially this year - they are amazingly incredible the way they are decorated. And even in the banks there are trees decorated. We have a lighted tree in our Fellowship Hall at Church which is beautiful. How about you? Do you get a "real" tree or do you have one that is tucked away in a box and you get out? I have a tucked away well lit tree. At first I debated putting our kids' ornaments they made in grade school (oh my gosh!) but opted for putting grandkids' ornament (Note: singular) - they gave us an ornament they made in school a couple of years ago and there they are - front and center on the tree!!! That's the fun of Christmas. Celebrating Jesus birth and honoring Him, and seeing the family decorations, eating the food, just plain ole' blessings!!!!

We have a tremendous family that loves Christmas and trust me - there are no humbugs in our family to ruin Christmas. Guess they know it's the greatest time of the year where we are together and so grateful!!!!!!! Hope you enjoy looking at trees - Christmas trees THIS DAY!!!

Phenomenal Services!!!

Yesterday I missed my time to blog...I was p-r-e-t-t-y busy with Church activities from sun up to sun down. Phenomenal service with beautiful singing, happy people and just all the way around wonderful! Then afterwards we had a dinner (KFC chicken dinner....: ) and my husband and I were presented a gift as well as each person there. Everything was beyond anything we could ever do. The truth was God was there and that made it all the most phenomenal! We had a special prayer for people who have called the 24/hr. prayer line. I pray your week will be sufficient, phenomenal, and exactly what you need to get all the things accomplished that you need to make your Christmas the best ever! Happy Monday to all!!

Added note: I'm finding out more and more people will respond to Facebook but not to blog....that's okay...I hear by e-mail my subscribers!!! Thanks everyone!

Pesevere in Prayer. God Will Answer You.

That answer may come as you read God's Word. . . as you hear a sermon in Church, or at a conference....or it may come from the still, small voice of God speaking in your heart. The answer may come into your mind and heart in a flash, or it may come to you slowly over time. But the answer will come.

God hears and answers. Psalms 23 is a great prayer!

You Won't Believe This!

Yesterday my hubby and I planed THE day TO FINISH Christmas shopping. (For each other also). So he was headed out to a completely different Mall than I was going to. Is it God's will or not? He changed his mind and went to another Mall and guess what? We smack dab ran into each other - now come on - that would never happen again in a million years! I'm astounished because he is a person that never does that - So, guess what we ended up doing. Yup, you're correct! Shopping at the same Mall!!! Naturally he saw what I got him and I saw what he got me...a-ha...so we are trying to erase it out of our minds and by Christmas will be surprised! Age and activities will cause that to happen. : )

I hope you are chuckling because this is one you tell your grandkids way years later! Hopefully your Thursday will at least be one of laughter when you read this blog.....encouragement done!!!!!

Wednesday - Stay Warm!

Okay - it's icey cold here. No ice as yet...but they are forewarning us. That's the part of winter I dread. I'll stay warm today because it sure came quickly....the cold weather that is!

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a Ladies Meeting, having been invited, and thoroughly enjoyed what the Pastor's Wife had to say. It made me think how we need to laugh more. She told some stories about Christmas trees and actually we all identified with it; it made us chuckle out loud! I hope your Christmas is filled with laughter, joy, and happiness. Try not to let the media and newspapers get you down with the doom and gloom about the economy. Thinking of the joy of giving makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Go hear a children's choir sing or something to enhance your spirit!!!! Kids are sooooo cute. Bless their hearts and bless all hearts this very day!!!!

Tuesday Declared Get Christmas Cards Addressed!

I don't dread this task....in fact I love it. Sending joy, greetings, and love through those Christmas cards.....yup.....super fun, and when it's finished a shout will hooray I'm finished will be heard! Last year was our year to hear from kazillion people we know around the world, missionaries, etc. So.....I shall have fun. I have great encouragement: the Christmas "to be done" list is getting shorter. I'm sure your's is also. Let's rejoice together!!!!

Christmas????

How are you doing with Christmas? I have tree up, decorated and presents under it! Woohoo!!! Pat myself on the back! I do have the Christmas spirit; This year we are taking our time to make it enjoyable instead of rush, rush, rush! We still do not have our outside decor done.

Here's an encouraging thought: Persevere in prayer. God will answer you. That answer may come as you read God's Word...as you hear a sermon in church or on television...or it may come from the still, small voice of God speaking in your heart. The answer may come into your mind and heart in a flash, or it may come to you slowly over time. But the answer will come. God hears and God answers. When you call upon Him, Repeating, He will answer you. I've seen it happen!

A Dog's Life

Pixie is the name of one of our Dogs. Chloe is the other. We loved Chloe who was an abused dog through an eye twitch 12 years ago. Pixie is inherited from our daughter-in-law that was given to our daughter passed on to me. Pixie is a bichon frise in all her glory. She has a mind of her own, but the main thing is she loves me and connects. If you read upon bichons, they are a circus dog that loves to jump as high on the back door (but usually through hoops in a circus act) and they are very smart dogs. I have 3 videos about her background as a bichon frise and three books that I have read cover to cover. She truly loves to lay by me wherever I am; when I'm at the computer now, she is right beside me watching me so she can obey. While we were away for Thanksgiving, our daughter-in-law "dog-sat" for us. Talk about out of control. They have a Golden Retreiver who loves to chomp on sticks, etc. outside. Pixie loves the same thing only she aggravates the other dog to the extent, it will wear the other dog out. The moral of that story is their dog wore Pixie out. Soooooo all week she has been laying by me as if to say can you explain why I wore myself out. Talk about being appreciative to our daughter-in-law for watching her (I owe her my life's earning because Pixie picked up some bad whining habits as I take her over to the church and she wants my attendtion) and I know she was out of control, but I have done what our Son suggested and to open her cage door and let her come in and out......Voila.......it works - it calmed her down. Now, our daughter will be coming with her precious dog, a small chihuahua for Christmas and Pixie will continue to just really bug her to the point where we have to separate the two.

A dog's life....what are they thinking? Okay, I'm going to get comments about this via e-mail....I think they are human, like us...we think of ways we can manuever ourselves out situations, and they do as well. This is one subject my husband and I mill over (he doesn't think so) but I'll just go on through my wonderful life believing this dog thinks I hung the moon and I'm sure you will feel the same about your dog or dogs or cats or horses or whatever you have......so enjoy them through the holiday and remember to let them give you a super attitude because they are so very cute....God love the cutie pies......and give them lots of love. I'm chuckling now because she conveniently turned over on her back for me to rub her tummy...talk about a manipulator....a-ha....and do I crater and do it. You bet!!! She is precious and keeps me great company during these wee-morning hours. How cute!! I wish you could see her! Enjoy your Friday!!!!

Smiles

If you have only one smile in you, give it to the people you love. Don't be surly at home, then go out in the street and start grinning "Good morning' at total strangers."

Do not let anyone take your JOY. ....or better yet, your smile. = )

My hubby tells me it is a shorter time from Thanksgiving to Christmas this time. So yeppers...out comes the Christmas tree. We have a big 'un so I'm going to have to get with the program! The good news is my husband is helping me this year. Such a doll, hu??? Yea! I hope your Tuesday is happy. I really mean that. I have tons of things to catch up on, so will leave a brief blogb ut I do have a word of encouragement.

Respond to Opportunities. Proverbs 12:11 says "Hard work means prosperity; only fools idle away their time."

YEA DECEMBER IS HERE!

It seems like it was only yesterday that December 2007 was here...now it's 2008!
Encouraging words: Stay organized during this month or it will get away from you.
Yesterday I did some Christmas shopping...that's weird with me because I usually get the tree up first. I couldn't beat the sale 40% off...so I did some great fun picking out something I'm pretty sure my family can use.

Thanksgiving was totally awesome and again I felt like a queen as our daughter just gave us all hospitality, fun, and I had full reign in the kitchen. On Thanksgiving Day we were all in the kitcen, including hubby. Now that was fun. I glanced over at our daughter as she was stirring the green bean casserole...oh my very favorite!!!!.....and she had her hand on her hip just exactly like my Momma had when she cooked for all us kazillion kids!!!! Tears began to well up because, of course, I miss my Momma who went home to glory in 1970. Another just like it was yesterday. In fact, our daughter is named after her so lots of memories arose!

At church yesterday some ladies told me they missed my blogging. I missed it; I'm convinced it's healthy for me. After a much needed vacationI'm beginning the month of December and try to remember frequently in order to cultivate a heart that honors God and willingly serves others, I must:
Remember God's in charge, not me.
When I serve my congregation, I am serving God.
I deserve nothing from God, but He blesses me anyway.
I don't serve to be liked. My security comes in knowing I was worth redeeming by the love of the Lord.
Nothing I can do will make God love me more.
Nothing I can do will make God love me less.
If I cultivate a servant heart, I'll be blessed more than anyone I serve.
The rewards are all around me if I learn to look and listen.

I Love A Parade

Okay I've been to famous parades - Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day several years ago. Adolphus Christmas Parade which our kids were in; and a parade our granddaughter was in, and the Veteran's Parade and now I'm headed toward a famous parade - Macy's T. Parade. Whoopeee!!! And I tear up when I see the bands coming. Maybe it brings back the exciting days of childhood to me; I just feel like a proud American, especially the one our kids marched in!!!! And I've always been on the sidelines right front and center! That's the great part!

How about you? Have you been in a parade or do you even go?

Happy Saturday everyone!!!!!

Football

There's something not many people know about me and I'm going to reveal it now.

On Saturdays I AM ADDICTED to watching Football games by what I call Ivy League Colleges. Since I'm from Oklahoma, I watch OU Football and love to watch (when they show them) SMU, TCU, Rice, and Baylor. Texas Tech someetimes.....I know I get razzed about not watching the Longhorns, but they have beaten OK too many times, so IF I HAVE TIME, I might click on that one. I also do Outreach at Church on Saturdays, so one or more games are included. Sometimes I think Referees are partial...that's my own opinion so please don't throw rotten eggs at me.

How about you? Do you watch NFL or College games? Or any at all.

I love the excitement of the players, coaches, band, and cheerleaders & fans all inclusive!!!! It's Friday! Have fun today - End the week with tons of joy!!

Okay - How To Be Your Own Cheerleader

1 - Get excited
2 - Believe you can cheer for yourself
3 - Use tons of enthusiasm
4 - Practice!
5 - Definitely keep extremely positive thoughts and Self Talk
6 - Shouldn't be this far on the numbers - Trust God to give you total help!
7 - Refuse to be around negativity or drainy personalities!
8 - Stay on Goal
9 - Visualize yourself WINNING!!!!

It works! (To get started - get some loyal support from a very close family
member who is on your team!!!!) Like our Son helped me yesterday
and now I'm cheering myself on to do it!!!!! Ride in a smaller

Believe!

Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't - you're right either way!

Belief in ourselves is like a muscle - it is strengthened by constant and careful use!

Our fears are more numerous than our dangers and we suffer more in our imagination than reality.

Learn your lessons and move on!

Those are my encouraging thoughts today. Remember to read Philippians chapter 1...awesome, asesome, soooo good to believe!
